4 Nō‑́ăh, Shĕm, Hăm, and Jā‑́phĕth.
5 ¶ The sons of Jā‑́phĕth; Gō‑́mĕr, and Mā‑́gŏg, and Mā‑́da᷍i, and Jā‑́văn, and Tū‑́băl, and Mē‑́shĕc͟h, and Tī‑́răs.
6 And the sons of Gō‑́mĕr; Ăsh‑chē‑́năz, and Rī‑́phăth, and Tō‑gär‑́măh.
7 And the sons of Jā‑́văn; Ē‑lī‑́shăh, and Tär‑́shĭsh, Kĭt‑́tĭm, and Dō‑́dă‑nĭm.
8 ¶ The sons of Hăm; Cŭsh, and Mĭz‑́rā‑ĭm, Pŭt, and Cā‑́nă‑ăn.
9 And the sons of Cŭsh; Sē‑́bă, and Hăv‑́ĭ‑läh, and Săb‑́tă, and Rā‑́ă‑mäh, and Săb‑tē‑́chă. And the sons of Rā‑́ă‑mäh; Shē‑́bă, and Dē‑́dăn.
10 And Cŭsh begat Nĭm‑́rŏd: he began to be mighty upon the earth.
11 And Mĭz‑́rā‑ĭm begat Lū‑́dĭm, and Ăn‑́ă‑mĭm, and Lĕ‑hā‑́bĭm, and Năph‑tû‑́hĭm,
12 And Păth‑rû‑́sĭm, and Căs‑lû‑́hĭm, (of whom came the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ,) and Căph‑́thō‑rĭm.
13 And Cā‑́nă‑ăn begat Zī‑́dŏn his first­born, and Hĕth,
14 The Jĕb‑́ū‑ṡīte also, and the Ăm‑́ō‑rīte, and the Gĭr‑́gă‑shīte,
15 And the Hī‑́vīte, and the Är‑́kīte, and the Sī‑́nīte,
16 And the Är‑́vā‑dīte, and the Zĕm‑́ă‑rīte, and the Hā‑́măth‑īte.
17 ¶ The sons of Shĕm; Ē‑́lăm, and Ăssh‑́u̇r, and Är‑phăx‑́ăd, and Lŭd, and Âr‑́ăm, and Ŭz, and Hŭl, and Gē‑́thĕr, and Mē‑́shĕc͟h.
18 And Är‑phăx‑́ăd begat Shē‑́läh, and Shē‑́läh begat Ē‑́bĕr.
19 And unto Ē‑́bĕr were born two sons: the name of the one [was] Pē‑́lĕg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother’s name [was] Jŏk‑́tăn.
20 And Jŏk‑́tăn begat Ăl‑mō‑́dăd, and Shē‑́lĕph, and Hā‑zär‑mā‑́vĕth, and Jē‑́räh,
21 Hă‑dôr‑́ăm also, and Ū‑́zăl, and Dĭk‑́läh,
22 And Ē‑́băl, and Ă‑bĭm‑́ā‑ĕl, and Shē‑́bă,
23 And Ō‑́phĭr, and Hăv‑́ĭ‑läh, and Jō‑́băb. All these [were] the sons of Jŏk‑́tăn.
24 ¶ Shĕm, Är‑phăx‑́ăd, Shē‑́läh,
25 Ē‑́bĕr, Pē‑́lĕg, Rē‑́ū,
26 Sē‑́rŭg, Nā‑́hôr, Tē‑́räh,
27 Ā‑́brăm; the same [is] Ā‑́bră‑hăm.
28 The sons of Ā‑́bră‑hăm; Ī‑́ṡa̅a̅c, and Ĭsh‑́mā‑ĕl.
29 ¶ These [are] their generations: The first­born of Ĭsh‑́mā‑ĕl, Nĕ‑ba᷍i‑́ōth; then Kē‑́där, and Ăd‑́be᷍el, and Mĭb‑́săm,
30 Mĭsh‑́mă, and Du‑́mäh, Măs‑́să, Hā‑́dăd, and Tē‑́mă,
31 Jē‑́tu̇r, Nā‑́phĭsh, and Kē‑́dĕ‑mäh. These are the sons of Ĭsh‑́mā‑ĕl.
32 ¶ Now the sons of Kĕ‑tū‑́răh, Ā‑́bră‑hăm’s concubine: she bare Zĭm‑́răn, and Jŏk‑́shăn, and Mē‑́dăn, and Mĭd‑́ĭ‑ăn, and Ĭsh‑́băk, and Shû‑́äh. And the sons of Jŏk‑́shăn; Shē‑́bă, and Dē‑́dăn.
33 And the sons of Mĭd‑́ĭ‑ăn; Ē‑́phäh, and Ē‑́phĕr, and Hē‑́nŏch, and Ă‑bī‑́dă, and Ĕl‑dā‑́äh. All these [are] the sons of Kĕ‑tū‑́răh.
34 And Ā‑́bră‑hăm begat Ī‑́ṡa̅a̅c. The sons of Ī‑́ṡa̅a̅c; Ē‑́sa᷍u and Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
35 ¶ The sons of Ē‑́sa᷍u; Ĕ‑lī‑́phăz, Re᷍u‑́ĕl, and Jē‑́ŭsh, and Jā‑́ă‑lăm, and Kôr‑́ăh.
36 The sons of Ĕ‑lī‑́phăz; Tē‑́măn, and Ō‑́mär, Zē‑́phī, and Gā‑́tăm, Kē‑́năz, and Tĭm‑́nă, and Ăm‑́ă‑lĕk.
37 The sons of Re᷍u‑́ĕl; Nā‑́hăth, Zē‑́räh, Shăm‑́măh, and Mĭz‑́zäh.
38 And the sons of Sē‑́ĭr; Lō‑́tăn, and Shō‑́băl, and Zĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n, and Ā‑́näh, and Dī‑́shŏn, and Ē‑́zĕr, and Dī‑́shăn.
39 And the sons of Lō‑́tăn; Hôr‑́ī, and Hō‑́măm: and Tĭm‑́nă [was] Lō‑́tăn’s sister.
40 The sons of Shō‑́băl; Ăl‑́ĭ‑ăn, and Măn‑́ă‑hăth, and Ē‑́băl, Shē‑́phī, and Ō‑́năm. And the sons of Zĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n; A᷍i‑́ăh, and Ā‑́näh.
41 The sons of Ā‑́näh; Dī‑́shŏn. And the sons of Dī‑́shŏn; Ăm‑́răm, and Ĕsh‑́băn, and Ĭth‑́răn, and C͟hē‑́răn.
42 The sons of Ē‑́zĕr; Bĭl‑́hăn, and Zā‑́văn, [and] Jā‑́kăn. The sons of Dī‑́shăn; Ŭz, and Âr‑́ăn.
43 ¶ Now these [are] the kings that reigned in the land of Ē‑́do̱m before [any] king reigned over the children of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl; Bē‑́lă the son of Bē‑́ôr: and the name of his city [was] Dĭn‑́hă‑bäh.
44 And when Bē‑́lă was dead, Jō‑́băb the son of Zē‑́räh of Bŏz‑́răh reigned in his stead.
45 And when Jō‑́băb was dead, Hū‑́shăm of the land of the Tē‑́măn‑ītes reigned in his stead.
46 And when Hū‑́shăm was dead, Hā‑́dăd the son of Bē‑́dăd, which smote Mĭd‑́ĭ‑ăn in the field of Mō‑́ăb, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city [was] Ā‑́vĭth.
47 And when Hā‑́dăd was dead, Săm‑́lăh of Măs‑rē‑́kăh reigned in his stead.
48 And when Săm‑́lăh was dead, Shā‑́ŭl of Rĕ‑́hŏ‑bōth by the river reigned in his stead.
49 And when Shā‑́ŭl was dead, Bā‑́ăl–hā‑́năn the son of Ăc͟h‑́bôr reigned in his stead.
50 And when Bā‑́ăl–hā‑́năn was dead, Hā‑́dăd reigned in his stead: and the name of his city [was] Pā‑́ī; and his wife’s name [was] Mĕ‑hĕt‑́ă‑bĕl, the daughter of Mā‑́trĕd, the daughter of Më‑́ză‑hăb.
51 ¶ Hā‑́dăd died also. And the dukes of Ē‑́do̱m were; duke Tĭm‑́năh, duke Ăl‑́ĭ‑ăh, duke Jē‑́thĕth,
52 Duke Ă‑hŏl‑ĭ‑bä‑́măh, duke Ē‑́lăh, duke Pī‑́nŏn,
53 Duke Kē‑́năz, duke Tē‑́măn, duke Mĭb‑́zär,
54 Duke Măg‑́dĭ‑ĕl, duke Ī‑́răm. These [are] the dukes of Ē‑́do̱m.
CHAPTER 2
These [are] the sons of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl; Re᷍u‑́bĕn, Sĭm‑́ĕ‑o̱n, Lē‑́vī, and Jûd‑́ăh, Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här, and Zĕ‑bū‑́lŭn,
2 Dăn, Jō‑́ṡĕph, and Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn, Năph‑́tă‑lī, Găd, and Ăsh‑́ĕr.
3 ¶ The sons of Jûd‑́ăh; Ĕr, and Ō‑́năn, and Shē‑́läh: [which] three were born unto him of the daughter of Shû‑́ă the Cā‑́nă‑ăn‑ītess. And Ĕr, the first­born of Jûd‑́ăh, was evil in the sight of the LORD; and he slew him.
4 And Tā‑́mär his daughter in law bare him Phâr‑́ĕz and Zē‑́räh. All the sons of Jûd‑́ăh [were] five.
5 The sons of Phâr‑́ĕz; Hĕz‑́rŏn, and Hăm‑́ŭl.
6 And the sons of Zē‑́räh; Zĭm‑́rī, and Ē‑́thăn, and Hē‑́măn, and Căl‑́cŏl, and Dâr‑́ă: five of them in all.
7 And the sons of Cär‑́mī; Ā‑́chär, the troubler of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, who transgressed in the thing accursed.
8 And the sons of Ē‑́thăn; Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh.
9 The sons also of Hĕz‑́rŏn, that were born unto him; Jĕ‑räh‑́me᷍el, and Răm, and C͟hĕ‑lū‑́ba᷍i.
10 And Răm begat Ăm‑mĭn‑́ă‑dăb; and Ăm‑mĭn‑́ă‑dăb begat Näh‑́shŏn, prince of the children of Jûd‑́ăh;
11 And Näh‑́shŏn begat Sal‑́mă, and Sal‑́mă begat Bō‑́ăz,
12 And Bō‑́ăz begat Ō‑́bĕd, and Ō‑́bĕd begat Jĕs‑́sĕ,
13 ¶ And Jĕs‑́sĕ begat his first­born Ē‑lī‑́ăb, and Ă‑bĭn‑́ă‑dăb the second, and Shĭm‑́mă the third,
14 Nĕth‑́ă‑ne᷍el the fourth, Răd‑́dā‑ī the fifth,
15 Ō‑́zĕm the sixth, Dā‑́vĭd the seventh:
16 Whose sisters [were] Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh, and Ăb‑́ĭ‑ga͟il. And the sons of Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh; Ăb‑́ĭ‑sha᷍i, and Jō‑́ăb, and Ăs‑́ă‑hĕl, three.
17 And Ăb‑́ĭ‑ga͟il bare Ă‑mā‑́să: and the father of Ă‑mā‑́să [was] Jē‑́thĕr the Ĭsh‑́me᷍e‑līte.
18 ¶ And Cā‑́lĕb the son of Hĕz‑́rŏn begat [children] of Ă‑zū‑́băh [his] wife, and of Jĕr‑́ĭ‑ōth: her sons [are] these; Jē‑́shĕr, and Shō‑́băb, and Är‑́dŏn.
19 And when Ă‑zū‑́băh was dead, Cā‑́lĕb took unto him Ē‑́phrăth, which bare him Hu̇r.
20 And Hu̇r begat Ū‑́rī, and Ū‑́rī begat Bĕz‑́ă‑le᷍el.
21 ¶ And after­ward Hĕz‑́rŏn went in to the daughter of Mā‑́c͟hĭr the father of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd, whom he married when he [was] threescore years old; and she bare him Sē‑́gŭb.
22 And Sē‑́gŭb begat Jā‑́ĭr, who had three and twenty cities in the land of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd.
23 And he took Gē‑́shu̇r, and Âr‑́ăm, with the towns of Jā‑́ĭr, from them, with Kē‑́năth, and the towns thereof, [even] threescore cities. All these [belonged to] the sons of Mā‑́c͟hĭr the father of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd.
24 And after that Hĕz‑́rŏn was dead in Cā‑́lĕb–ĕph‑́ră‑tăh, then Ă‑bī‑́ăh Hĕz‑́rŏn’s wife bare him Ăsh‑́u̇r the father of Tĕ‑kō‑́ă.
25 ¶ And the sons of Jĕ‑räh‑́me᷍el the first­born of Hĕz‑́rŏn were, Răm the first­born, and Bū‑́näh, and Ô‑́rĕn, and Ō‑́zĕm, [and] Ă‑hī‑́jăh.
26 Jĕ‑räh‑́me᷍el had also another wife, whose name [was] Ăt‑́ă‑răh; she [was] the mother of Ō‑́năm.
27 And the sons of Răm the first­born of Jĕ‑räh‑́me᷍el were, Mā‑́ăz, and Jā‑́mĭn, and Ē‑́kĕr.
28 And the sons of Ō‑́năm were, Shăm‑́mā‑ī, and Jā‑́dă. And the sons of Shăm‑́mā‑ī; Nā‑́dăb, and Ă‑bī‑́shu̇r.
29 And the name of the wife of Ă‑bī‑́shu̇r [was] Ăb‑́ĭ‑ha͟il, and she bare him Äh‑́băn, and Mō‑́lĭd.
30 And the sons of Nā‑́dăb; Sē‑́lĕd, and Ăp‑́pā‑ĭm: but Sē‑́lĕd died with­out children.
31 And the sons of Ăp‑́pā‑ĭm; Ĭsh‑́ī. And the sons of Ĭsh‑́ī; Shē‑́shăn. And the children of Shē‑́shăn; Äh‑́lā‑ī.
32 And the sons of Jā‑́dă the brother of Shăm‑́mā‑ī; Jē‑́thĕr, and Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn: and Jē‑́thĕr died with­out children.
33 And the sons of Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn; Pē‑́lĕth, and Zā‑́ză. These were the sons of Jĕ‑räh‑́me᷍el.
34 ¶ Now Shē‑́shăn had no sons, but daughters. And Shē‑́shăn had a servant, an Ē‑ġy̆p‑́ti̅ăn, whose name [was] Jär‑́hă.
35 And Shē‑́shăn gave his daughter to Jär‑́hă his servant to wife; and she bare him Ăt‑́tā‑ī.
36 And Ăt‑́tā‑ī begat Nā‑́thăn, and Nā‑́thăn begat Zā‑́băd,
37 And Zā‑́băd begat Ĕph‑́lăl, and Ĕph‑́lăl begat Ō‑́bĕd,
38 And Ō‑́bĕd begat Jē‑́hū, and Jē‑́hū begat Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh,
39 And Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh begat Hē‑́lĕz, and Hē‑́lĕz begat Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́săh,
40 And Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́săh begat Sĭs‑́ă‑ma᷍i, and Sĭs‑́ă‑ma᷍i begat Shăl‑́lŭm,
41 And Shăl‑́lŭm begat Jĕk‑ă‑mī‑́ăh, and Jĕk‑ă‑mī‑́ăh begat Ē‑lī‑́shă‑mă.
42 ¶ Now the sons of Cā‑́lĕb the brother of Jĕ‑räh‑́me᷍el [were], Mē‑́shă his first­born, which [was] the father of Zĭph; and the sons of Mă‑rē‑́shäh the father of Hē‑́brŏn.
43 And the sons of Hē‑́brŏn; Kôr‑́ăh, and Tăp‑́pū‑ăh, and Rē‑́kĕm, and Shē‑́mă.
44 And Shē‑́mă begat Rā‑́hăm, the father of Jôr‑́kō‑ăm: and Rē‑́kĕm begat Shăm‑́mā‑ī.
45 And the son of Shăm‑́mā‑ī [was] Mā‑́ŏn: and Mā‑́ŏn [was] the father of Bĕth–́zu̇r.
46 And Ē‑́phäh, Cā‑́lĕb’s concubine, bare Hâ‑́răn, and Mō‑́ză, and Gā‑́zĕz: and Hâ‑́răn begat Gā‑́zĕz.
47 And the sons of Jäh‑́dā‑ī; Rē‑́gĕm, and Jō‑́thăm, and Gē‑́shăn, and Pē‑́lĕt, and Ē‑́phäh, and Shā‑́ăph.
48 Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh, Cā‑́lĕb’s concubine, bare Shē‑́bĕr, and Tĭr‑hā‑́năh.
49 She bare also Shā‑́ăph the father of Măd‑măn‑́năh, Shē‑́vă the father of Măc͟h‑bē‑́năh, and the father of Gĭb‑́ĕ‑ă: and the daughter of Cā‑́lĕb [was] Ăc͟h‑́săh.
50 ¶ These were the sons of Cā‑́lĕb the son of Hu̇r, the first­born of Ĕph‑́ră‑tăh; Shō‑́băl the father of Kĭr‑́jăth–jē‑́ă‑rĭm,
51 Sal‑́mă the father of Bĕth–́lĕ‑hĕm, Hâr‑́ĕph the father of Bĕth–gā‑́dĕr.
52 And Shō‑́băl the father of Kĭr‑́jăth–jē‑́ă‑rĭm had sons; Hă‑rō‑́ēh, [and] half of the Măn‑ă‑hē‑́thītes.
53 And the families of Kĭr‑́jăth–jē‑́ă‑rĭm; the Ĭth‑́rītes, and the Pū‑́hītes, and the Shû‑́mă‑thītes, and the Mĭsh‑́rā‑ītes; of them came the Ză‑rē‑́ă‑thītes, and the Ĕsh‑tā‑ū‑́lītes.
54 The sons of Sal‑́mă; Bĕth–́lĕ‑hĕm, and the Nĕ‑tŏph‑́ă‑thītes, Ăt‑́ă‑rōth, the house of Jō‑́ăb, and half of the Măn‑ă‑hē‑́thītes, the Zôr‑́ītes.
55 And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jā‑́bĕz; the Tī‑́ră‑thītes, the Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ă‑thītes, [and] Sū‑́c͟hă‑thītes. These [are] the Kē‑́nītes that came of Hē‑́măth, the father of the house of Rē‑́c͟hăb.
CHAPTER 3
Now these were the sons of Dā‑́vĭd, which were born unto him in Hē‑́brŏn; the first­born Ăm‑́nŏn, of Ă‑hĭn‑́ō‑ăm the Jĕz‑re᷍el‑ī‑́tĕss; the second Dăn‑́ịĕl, of Ăb‑́ĭ‑ga͟il the Cär‑mĕl‑ī‑́tĕss:
2 The third, Ăb‑́să‑lo̱m the son of Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh the daughter of Tăl‑́ma᷍i king of Gē‑́shu̇r: the fourth, Ăd‑ō‑nī‑́jăh the son of Hăg‑́gĭth:
3 The fifth, Shĕph‑ă‑tī‑́ăh of Ă‑bī‑́tăl: the sixth, Ĭth‑́rĕ‑ăm by Ĕg‑́lăh his wife.
4 [These] six were born unto him in Hē‑́brŏn; and there he reigned seven years and six months: and in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm he reigned thirty and three years.
5 And these were born unto him in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm; Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ă, and Shō‑́băb, and Nā‑́thăn, and Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n, four, of Băth–́shû‑ă the daughter of Ăm‑́mĭ‑ĕl:
6 Ĭb‑́här also, and Ē‑lī‑́shă‑mă, and Ē‑lĭph‑́ĕ‑lĕt,
7 And Nō‑́gäh, and Nĕph‑́ĕg, and Jă‑phī‑́ă,
8 And Ē‑lī‑́shă‑mă, and Ē‑lī‑́ă‑dă, and Ē‑lĭph‑́ĕ‑lĕt, nine.
9 [These were] all the sons of Dā‑́vĭd, beside the sons of the concubines, and Tā‑́mär their sister.
10 ¶ And Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n’s son [was] Rē‑hŏ‑bō‑́ăm, Ă‑bī‑́ă his son, Ā‑́să his son, Jĕ‑hŏsh‑́ă‑phăt his son,
11 Jôr‑́ăm his son, Ā‑hă‑zī‑́ăh his son, Jō‑́ăsh his son,
12 Ăm‑ă‑zī‑́ăh his son, Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh his son, Jō‑́thăm his son,
13 Ā‑́hăz his son, Hĕz‑ē‑kī‑́ăh his son, Mă‑năs‑́sēh his son,
14 Ā‑́mŏn his son, Jō‑sī‑́ăh his son.
15 And the sons of Jō‑sī‑́ăh [were], the first­born Jō‑hā‑́năn, the second Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑kĭm, the third Zĕd‑ē‑kī‑́ăh, the fourth Shăl‑́lŭm.
16 And the sons of Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑kĭm: Jĕc‑ō‑nī‑́ăh his son, Zĕd‑ē‑kī‑́ăh his son.
17 ¶ And the sons of Jĕc‑ō‑nī‑́ăh; Ăs‑́sĭr, Să‑lā‑́thĭ‑ĕl his son,
18 Măl‑chī‑́răm also, and Pĕ‑da᷍i‑́ăh, and Shĕn‑ā‑́zär, Jĕc‑ă‑mī‑́ăh, Hō‑́shă‑mă, and Nĕd‑ă‑bī‑́ăh.
19 And the sons of Pĕ‑da᷍i‑́ăh [were], Zĕ‑rŭb‑́bă‑bĕl, and Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī: and the sons of Zĕ‑rŭb‑́bă‑bĕl; Mĕ‑shŭl‑́lăm, and Hăn‑ă‑nī‑́ăh, and Shĕ‑lō‑́mĭth their sister:
20 And Hă‑shû‑́băh, and Ō‑́hĕl, and Bĕr‑ē‑c͟hī‑́ăh, and Hăs‑ă‑dī‑́ăh, Jû‑́shăb–hĕs‑́ĕd, five.
21 And the sons of Hăn‑ă‑nī‑́ăh; Pĕl‑ă‑tī‑́ăh, and Jĕ‑sa᷍i‑́ăh: the sons of Rĕ‑pha᷍i‑́ăh, the sons of Är‑́năn, the sons of Ō‑bă‑dī‑́ăh, the sons of Shĕc͟h‑ă‑nī‑́ăh.
22 And the sons of Shĕc͟h‑ă‑nī‑́ăh; Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh: and the sons of Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh; Hăt‑́tŭsh, and Ī‑́ġĕ‑ăl, and Bă‑rī‑́ăh, and Nē‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Shā‑́phăt, six.
23 And the sons of Nē‑ă‑rī‑́ăh; Ĕl‑ĭ‑ō‑ē‑́na᷍i, and Hĕz‑ē‑kī‑́ăh, and Ăz‑rī‑́kăm, three.
24 And the sons of Ĕl‑ĭ‑ō‑ē‑́na᷍i [were], Hō‑da᷍i‑́ăh, and Ē‑lī‑ăsh‑́ĭb, and Pĕ‑la᷍i‑́ăh, and Ăk‑́kŭb, and Jō‑hā‑́năn, and Dă‑la᷍i‑́ăh, and Ă‑nā‑́nī, seven.
CHAPTER 4
The sons of Jûd‑́ăh; Phâr‑́ĕz, Hĕz‑́rŏn, and Cär‑́mī, and Hu̇r, and Shō‑́băl.
2 And Rē‑a᷍i‑́ăh the son of Shō‑́băl begat Jā‑́hăth; and Jā‑́hăth begat Ă‑hū‑́ma᷍i, and Lā‑́hăd. These [are] the families of the Zôr‑́ă‑thītes.
3 And these [were of] the father of Ē‑́tăm; Jĕz‑́re᷍el, and Ĭsh‑́mă, and Ĭd‑́băsh: and the name of their sister [was] Hăz‑ĕl‑ĕl‑pō‑́nī:
4 And Pĕn‑́ū‑ĕl the father of Gē‑́dôr, and Ē‑́zĕr the father of Hū‑́shăh. These [are] the sons of Hu̇r, the first­born of Ĕph‑́ră‑tăh, the father of Bĕth–́lĕ‑hĕm.
5 ¶ And Ăsh‑́u̇r the father of Tĕ‑kō‑́ă had two wives, Hē‑́lăh and Nā‑́ă‑răh.
6 And Nā‑́ă‑răh bare him Ă‑hū‑́zăm, and Hē‑́phĕr, and Tē‑́mĕ‑nī, and Hā‑ă‑hăsh‑́tă‑rī. These [were] the sons of Nā‑́ă‑răh.
7 And the sons of Hē‑́lăh [were], Zē‑́rĕth, and Jĕ‑zō‑́är, and Ĕth‑́năn.
8 And Cŏz begat Ā‑́nŭb, and Zō‑bē‑́băh, and the families of Ă‑här‑́hĕl the son of Hâr‑́ŭm.
9 ¶ And Jā‑́bĕz was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jā‑́bĕz, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
10 And Jā‑́bĕz called on the God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep [me] from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
11 ¶ And C͟hē‑́lŭb the brother of Shû‑́äh begat Mē‑́hĭr, which [was] the father of Ĕsh‑́tŏn.
12 And Ĕsh‑́tŏn begat Bĕth–rā‑́phă, and Pă‑sē‑́ăh, and Tĕ‑hĭn‑́năh the father of Ĭr–nā‑́hăsh. These [are] the men of Rē‑́c͟hăh.
13 And the sons of Kē‑́năz; Ŏth‑́nĭ‑ĕl, and Sĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ăh: and the sons of Ŏth‑́nĭ‑ĕl; Hā‑́thăth.
14 And Mē‑ō‑́nō‑tha᷍i begat Ŏph‑́răh: and Sĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ăh begat Jō‑́ăb, the father of the valley of C͟hă‑rä‑́shĭm; for they were craftsmen.
15 And the sons of Cā‑́lĕb the son of Jĕ‑phŭn‑́nēh; Ī‑́rû, Ē‑́lăh, and Nā‑́ăm: and the sons of Ē‑́lăh, even Kē‑́năz.
16 And the sons of Jĕ‑hăl‑́ĕ‑le᷍el; Zĭph, and Zīph‑́ăh, Tī‑́rĭ‑ă, and Ăs‑́ă‑re᷍el.
17 And the sons of Ĕz‑́ră [were], Jē‑́thĕr, and Mē‑́rĕd, and Ē‑́phĕr, and Jā‑́lŏn: and she bare Mĭr‑́ĭ‑ăm, and Shăm‑́mā‑ī, and Ĭsh‑́băh the father of Ĕsh‑tĕ‑mō‑́ă.
18 And his wife Jĕ‑hū‑dī‑́jăh bare Jē‑́rĕd the father of Gē‑́dôr, and Hē‑́bĕr the father of Sō‑́c͟hō, and Jĕ‑kū‑́thĭ‑ĕl the father of Ză‑nō‑́ăh. And these [are] the sons of Bĭth‑́ĭ‑ăh the daughter of Phâr‑́a̅o̅h, which Mē‑́rĕd took.
19 And the sons of [his] wife Hō‑dī‑́ăh the sister of Nā‑́hăm, the father of Kē‑ī‑́lăh the Gär‑́mīte, and Ĕsh‑tĕ‑mō‑́ă the Mā‑ăc͟h‑́ă‑thīte.
20 And the sons of Shī‑́mŏn [were], Ăm‑́nŏn, and Rĭn‑́năh, Bĕn–hā‑́năn, and Tī‑́lŏn. And the sons of Ĭsh‑́ī [were], Zō‑́hĕth, and Bĕn–zō‑́hĕth.
21 ¶ The sons of Shē‑́läh the son of Jûd‑́ăh [were], Ĕr the father of Lē‑cäh, and Lā‑́ă‑dăh the father of Mă‑rē‑́shäh, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ăsh‑bē‑́ă,
22 And Jō‑́kĭm, and the men of C͟hō‑zē‑́bă, and Jō‑́ăsh, and Sâr‑́ăph, who had the dominion in Mō‑́ăb, and Jă‑shū‑́bī–lē‑́hĕm. And [these are] ancient things.
23 These [were] the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work.
24 ¶ The sons of Sĭm‑́ĕ‑o̱n [were], Nĕm‑́ū‑ĕl, and Jā‑́mĭn, Jâr‑́ĭb, Zē‑́räh, [and] Shā‑́ŭl:
25 Shăl‑́lŭm his son, Mĭb‑́săm his son, Mĭsh‑́mă his son.
26 And the sons of Mĭsh‑́mă; Hăm‑́ū‑ĕl his son, Zăc‑́c͟hu̇r his son, Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī his son.
27 And Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Jûd‑́ăh.
28 And they dwelt at Be᷍er–shē‑́bă, and Mō‑lā‑́dăh, and Hā‑́zär–shû‑́ăl,
29 And at Bĭl‑́häh, and at Ē‑́zĕm, and at Tō‑́lăd,
30 And at Bĕ‑thū‑́ĕl, and at Hôr‑́măh, and at Zĭk‑́lăg,
31 And at Bĕth–mär‑́că‑bōth, and Hā‑́zär–sû‑́sĭm, and at Bĕth–bĭr‑́ĕ‑ī, and at Shā‑ă‑rā‑́ĭm. These [were] their cities unto the reign of Dā‑́vĭd.
32 And their villages [were], Ē‑́tăm, and Ā‑́ĭn, Rĭm‑́mo̱n, and Tō‑́c͟hĕn, and Ăsh‑́ăn, five cities:
33 And all their villages that [were] round about the same cities, unto Bā‑́ăl. These [were] their habitations, and their genealogy.
34 And Mĕ‑shō‑́băb, and Jăm‑́lĕch, and Jō‑́shäh the son of Ăm‑ă‑zī‑́ăh,
35 And Jō‑́ĕl, and Jē‑́hū the son of Jŏs‑ĭ‑bī‑́ăh, the son of Sĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ăh, the son of Ăs‑́ī‑ĕl,
36 And Ĕl‑ĭ‑ō‑ē‑́na᷍i, and Jā‑ă‑kō‑́băh, and Jĕsh‑ō‑ha᷍i‑́ăh, and Ă‑sa᷍i‑́ăh, and Ăd‑́ĭ‑ĕl, and Jĕ‑sĭm‑́ĭ‑ĕl, and Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh,
37 And Zī‑́ză the son of Shī‑́phī, the son of Ăl‑́lŏn, the son of Jĕ‑da᷍i‑́ăh, the son of Shĭm‑́rī, the son of Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh;
38 These mentioned by [their] names [were] princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly.
39 ¶ And they went to the entrance of Gē‑́dôr, [even] unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
40 And they found fat pasture and good, and the land [was] wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for [they] of Hăm had dwelt there of old.
41 And these written by name came in the days of Hĕz‑ē‑kī‑́ăh king of Jûd‑́ăh, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because [there was] pasture there for their flocks.
42 And [some] of them, [even] of the sons of Sĭm‑́ĕ‑o̱n, five hundred men, went to mount Sē‑́ĭr, having for their captains Pĕl‑ă‑tī‑́ăh, and Nē‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Rĕ‑pha᷍i‑́ăh, and Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl, the sons of Ĭsh‑́ī.
43 And they smote the rest of the Ă‑măl‑́ĕk‑ītes that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
CHAPTER 5
Now the sons of Re᷍u‑́bĕn the first­born of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, (for he [was] the first­born; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father’s bed, his birth­right was given unto the sons of Jō‑́ṡĕph the son of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birth­right.
2 For Jûd‑́ăh prevailed above his brethren, and of him [came] the chief ruler; but the birth­right [was] Jō‑́ṡĕph’s:)
3 The sons, [I say], of Re᷍u‑́bĕn the first­born of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl [were], Hā‑́nŏ‑c͟h, and Păl‑́lû, Hĕz‑́rŏn, and Cär‑́mī.
4 The sons of Jō‑́ĕl; Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh his son, Gŏg his son, Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī his son,
5 Mī‑́căh his son, Rĕ‑a᷍i‑́ă his son, Bā‑́ăl his son,
6 Be᷍er‑́ăh his son, whom Tĭl‑́găth–pĭl‑nē‑́ṡĕr king of Ăs‑sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ă carried away [captive]: he [was] prince of the Re᷍u‑́bĕn‑ītes.
7 And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned, [were] the chief, Jē‑ī‑́ĕl, and Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh,
8 And Bē‑́lă the son of Ā‑́zăz, the son of Shē‑́mă, the son of Jō‑́ĕl, who dwelt in Ă‑rō‑́ĕr, even unto Nē‑́bō and Bā‑́ăl–mē‑́o̱n:
9 And east­ward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river E᷍u‑phrā‑́tēṡ: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd.
10 And in the days of Sa᷍ul they made war with the Hăg‑́ă‑rītes, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents through­out all the east [land] of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd.
11 ¶ And the children of Găd dwelt over against them, in the land of Bā‑́shăn unto Săl‑́c͟hăh:
12 Jō‑́ĕl the chief, and Shā‑́phăm the next, and Jā‑́ă‑na᷍i, and Shā‑́phăt in Bā‑́shăn.
13 And their brethren of the house of their fathers [were], Mī‑́c͟hā‑ĕl, and Mĕ‑shŭl‑́lăm, and Shē‑́bă, and Jō‑́rā‑ī, and Jā‑́c͟hăn, and Zī‑́ă, and Hē‑́bĕr, seven.
14 These [are] the children of Ăb‑́ĭ‑ha͟il the son of Hū‑́rī, the son of Jă‑rō‑́ăh, the son of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd, the son of Mī‑́c͟hā‑ĕl, the son of Jĕ‑shĭsh‑́a᷍i, the son of Jäh‑́dō, the son of Bŭz;
15 Ā‑́hī the son of Ăb‑́dĭ‑ĕl, the son of Gū‑́nī, chief of the house of their fathers.
16 And they dwelt in Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd in Bā‑́shăn, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Shâr‑́o̱n, upon their borders.
17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jō‑́thăm king of Jûd‑́ăh, and in the days of Jĕr‑ŏ‑bō‑́ăm king of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
18 ¶ The sons of Re᷍u‑́bĕn, and the Găd‑́ītes, and half the tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, [were] four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.
19 And they made war with the Hăg‑́ă‑rītes, with Jē‑́tu̇r, and Nĕph‑́ĭsh, and Nō‑́dăb.
20 And they were helped against them, and the Hăg‑́ă‑rītes were delivered into their hand, and all that [were] with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
21 And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.
22 For there fell down many slain, because the war [was] of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.
23 ¶ And the children of the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bā‑́shăn unto Bā‑́ăl–hĕr‑́mo̱n and Sē‑́nĭr, and unto mount Hĕr‑́mo̱n.
24 And these [were] the heads of the house of their fathers, even Ē‑́phĕr, and Ĭsh‑́ī, and Ē‑lī‑́ĕl, and Ăz‑́rĭ‑ĕl, and Jĕr‑ē‑mī‑́ăh, and Hō‑dă‑vī‑́ăh, and Jäh‑́dĭ‑ĕl, mighty men of valour, famous men, [and] heads of the house of their fathers.
25 ¶ And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26 And the God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl stirred up the spirit of Pŭl king of Ăs‑sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ă, and the spirit of Tĭl‑́găth–pĭl‑nē‑́ṡĕr king of Ăs‑sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ă, and he carried them away, even the Re᷍u‑́bĕn‑ītes, and the Găd‑́ītes, and the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, and brought them unto Hā‑́läh, and Hā‑́bôr, and Hâr‑́ă, and to the river Gō‑́zăn, unto this day.
CHAPTER 6
The sons of Lē‑́vī; Gĕr‑́shŏn, Kō‑́hăth, and Mĕ‑râr‑́ī.
2 And the sons of Kō‑́hăth; Ăm‑́răm, Ĭz‑́här, and Hē‑́brŏn, and Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl.
3 And the children of Ăm‑́răm; A᷍a‑́ro̱n, and Mō‑́ṡĕṡ, and Mĭr‑́ĭ‑ăm. The sons also of A᷍a‑́ro̱n; Nā‑́dăb, and Ă‑bī‑́hū, Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär, and Ĭth‑́ă‑mär.
4 ¶ Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär begat Phĭn‑́ĕ‑hăṡ, Phĭn‑́ĕ‑hăṡ begat Ă‑bī‑́shû‑ă,
5 And Ă‑bī‑́shû‑ă begat Bŭk‑́kī, and Bŭk‑́kī begat Ŭz‑́zī,
6 And Ŭz‑́zī begat Zĕr‑ă‑hī‑́ăh, and Zĕr‑ă‑hī‑́ăh begat Mĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ōth,
7 Mĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ōth begat Ăm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Ăm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh begat Ă‑hī‑́tŭb,
8 And Ă‑hī‑́tŭb begat Zā‑́dŏk, and Zā‑́dŏk begat Ă‑hī‑́mă‑ăz,
9 And Ă‑hī‑́mă‑ăz begat Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh begat Jō‑hā‑́năn,
10 And Jō‑hā‑́năn begat Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, (he [it is] that executed the priest’s office in the temple that Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n built in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm:)
11 And Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh begat Ăm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Ăm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh begat Ă‑hī‑́tŭb,
12 And Ă‑hī‑́tŭb begat Zā‑́dŏk, and Zā‑́dŏk begat Shăl‑́lŭm,
13 And Shăl‑́lŭm begat Hĭl‑kī‑́ăh, and Hĭl‑kī‑́ăh begat Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh,
14 And Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh begat Sĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ăh, and Sĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ăh begat Jĕ‑hō‑́ză‑dăk,
15 And Jĕ‑hō‑́ză‑dăk went [into captivity], when the LORD carried away Jûd‑́ăh and Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm by the hand of Nĕb‑ū‑c͟hăd‑nĕz‑́zär.
16 ¶ The sons of Lē‑́vī; Gĕr‑́shŏm, Kō‑́hăth, and Mĕ‑râr‑́ī.
17 And these [be] the names of the sons of Gĕr‑́shŏm; Lĭb‑́nī, and Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī.
18 And the sons of Kō‑́hăth [were], Ăm‑́răm, and Ĭz‑́här, and Hē‑́brŏn, and Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl.
19 The sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī; Mäh‑́lī, and Mū‑́shī. And these [are] the families of the Lē‑́vītes according to their fathers.
20 Of Gĕr‑́shŏm; Lĭb‑́nī his son, Jā‑́hăth his son, Zĭm‑́măh his son,
21 Jō‑́äh his son, Ĭd‑́dō his son, Zē‑́räh his son, Jē‑ăt‑́ĕ‑ra᷍i his son.
22 The sons of Kō‑́hăth; Ăm‑mĭn‑́ă‑dăb his son, Kôr‑́ăh his son, Ăs‑́sĭr his son,
23 Ĕl‑kā‑́năh his son, and Ē‑bī‑́ă‑săph his son, and Ăs‑́sĭr his son,
24 Tā‑́hăth his son, Ū‑́rĭ‑ĕl his son, Ŭz‑zī‑́ăh his son, and Shā‑́ŭl his son.
25 And the sons of Ĕl‑kā‑́năh; Ă‑mā‑́sa᷍i, and Ă‑hī‑́mōth.
26 [As for] Ĕl‑kā‑́năh: the sons of Ĕl‑kā‑́năh; Zō‑́pha᷍i his son, and Nā‑́hăth his son,
27 Ē‑lī‑́ăb his son, Jĕ‑rō‑́hăm his son, Ĕl‑kā‑́năh his son.
28 And the sons of Săm‑́ū‑ĕl; the first­born Văsh‑́nī, and Ă‑bī‑́ăh.
29 The sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī; Mäh‑́lī, Lĭb‑́nī his son, Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī his son, Ŭz‑́ză his son,
30 Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ă his son, Hăg‑gī‑́ăh his son, Ă‑sa᷍i‑́ăh his son.
31 And these [are they] whom Dā‑́vĭd set over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after that the ark had rest.
32 And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n had built the house of the LORD in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm: and [then] they waited on their office according to their order.
33 And these [are] they that waited with their children. Of the sons of the Kō‑́hăth‑ītes: Hē‑́măn a singer, the son of Jō‑́ĕl, the son of Shĕ‑mū‑́ĕl,
34 The son of Ĕl‑kā‑́năh, the son of Jĕ‑rō‑́hăm, the son of Ē‑lī‑́ĕl, the son of Tō‑́ăh,
35 The son of Zŭph, the son of Ĕl‑kā‑́năh, the son of Mā‑́hăth, the son of Ă‑mā‑́sa᷍i,
36 The son of Ĕl‑kā‑́năh, the son of Jō‑́ĕl, the son of Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, the son of Zĕph‑ă‑nī‑́ăh,
37 The son of Tā‑́hăth, the son of Ăs‑́sĭr, the son of Ē‑bī‑́ă‑săph, the son of Kôr‑́ăh,
38 The son of Ĭz‑́här, the son of Kō‑́hăth, the son of Lē‑́vī, the son of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
39 And his brother Ā‑́săph, who stood on his right hand, [even] Ā‑́săph the son of Bĕr‑ă‑c͟hī‑́ăh, the son of Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ă,
40 The son of Mī‑́c͟hā‑ĕl, the son of Bā‑ă‑se᷍i‑́ăh, the son of Măl‑chī‑́ăh,
41 The son of Ĕth‑́nī, the son of Zē‑́räh, the son of Ă‑da᷍i‑́ăh,
42 The son of Ē‑́thăn, the son of Zĭm‑́măh, the son of Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī,
43 The son of Jā‑́hăth, the son of Gĕr‑́shŏm, the son of Lē‑́vī.
44 And their brethren the sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī [stood] on the left hand: Ē‑́thăn the son of Kĭsh‑́ī, the son of Ăb‑́dī, the son of Măl‑́lŭc͟h,
45 The son of Hăsh‑ă‑bī‑́ăh, the son of Ăm‑ă‑zī‑́ăh, the son of Hĭl‑kī‑́ăh,
46 The son of Ăm‑́zī, the son of Bā‑́nī, the son of Shā‑́mĕr,
47 The son of Mäh‑́lī, the son of Mū‑́shī, the son of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī, the son of Lē‑́vī.
48 Their brethren also the Lē‑́vītes [were] appointed unto all manner of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.
49 ¶ But A᷍a‑́ro̱n and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, [and were appointed] for all the work of the [place] most holy, and to make an atonement for Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, according to all that Mō‑́ṡĕṡ the servant of God had commanded.
50 And these [are] the sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n; Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär his son, Phĭn‑́ĕ‑hăṡ his son, Ă‑bī‑́shû‑ă his son,
51 Bŭk‑́kī his son, Ŭz‑́zī his son, Zĕr‑ă‑hī‑́ăh his son,
52 Mĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ōth his son, Ăm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh his son, Ă‑hī‑́tŭb his son,
53 Zā‑́dŏk his son, Ă‑hī‑́mă‑ăz his son.
54 ¶ Now these [are] their dwelling places through­out their castles in their coasts, of the sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n, of the families of the Kō‑́hăth‑ītes: for theirs was the lot.
55 And they gave them Hē‑́brŏn in the land of Jûd‑́ăh, and the suburbs thereof round about it.
56 But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, they gave to Cā‑́lĕb the son of Jĕ‑phŭn‑́nēh.
57 And to the sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n they gave the cities of Jûd‑́ăh, [namely], Hē‑́brŏn, [the city] of refuge, and Lĭb‑́năh with her suburbs, and Jăt‑́tĭr, and Ĕsh‑tĕ‑mō‑́ă, with their suburbs,
58 And Hī‑́lĕn with her suburbs, Dē‑́bĭr with her suburbs,
59 And Ăsh‑́ăn with her suburbs, and Bĕth–shē‑́mĕsh with her suburbs:
60 And out of the tribe of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn; Gē‑́bă with her suburbs, and Ăl‑́ĕ‑mĕth with her suburbs, and Ăn‑́ă‑thōth with her suburbs. All their cities through­out their families [were] thirteen cities.
61 And unto the sons of Kō‑́hăth, [which were] left of the family of that tribe, [were cities given] out of the half tribe, [namely, out of] the half [tribe] of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, by lot, ten cities.
62 And to the sons of Gĕr‑́shŏm through­out their families out of the tribe of Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här, and out of the tribe of Ăsh‑́ĕr, and out of the tribe of Năph‑́tă‑lī, and out of the tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh in Bā‑́shăn, thirteen cities.
63 Unto the sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī [were given] by lot, through­out their families, out of the tribe of Re᷍u‑́bĕn, and out of the tribe of Găd, and out of the tribe of Zĕ‑bū‑́lŭn, twelve cities.
64 And the children of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl gave to the Lē‑́vītes [these] cities with their suburbs.
65 And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Jûd‑́ăh, and out of the tribe of the children of Sĭm‑́ĕ‑o̱n, and out of the tribe of the children of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn, these cities, which are called by [their] names.
66 And [the residue] of the families of the sons of Kō‑́hăth had cities of their coasts out of the tribe of Ē‑́phră‑ĭm.
67 And they gave unto them, [of] the cities of refuge, Shē‑́c͟hĕm in mount Ē‑́phră‑ĭm with her suburbs; [they gave] also Gē‑́zĕr with her suburbs,
68 And Jŏk‑́mē‑ăm with her suburbs, and Bĕth–hôr‑́ŏn with her suburbs,
69 And A᷍i‑́jă‑lŏn with her suburbs, and Găth–rĭm‑́mo̱n with her suburbs:
70 And out of the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh; Ā‑́nĕr with her suburbs, and Bī‑́lĕ‑ăm with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kō‑́hăth.
71 Unto the sons of Gĕr‑́shŏm [were given] out of the family of the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, Gō‑́lăn in Bā‑́shăn with her suburbs, and Ăsh‑́tă‑rōth with her suburbs:
72 And out of the tribe of Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här; Kē‑́dĕsh with her suburbs, Dăb‑́ĕ‑răth with her suburbs,
73 And Rā‑́mŏth with her suburbs, and Ā‑́nĕm with her suburbs:
74 And out of the tribe of Ăsh‑́ĕr; Mā‑́shăl with her suburbs, and Ăb‑́dŏn with her suburbs,
75 And Hū‑́kŏk with her suburbs, and Rē‑́hŏb with her suburbs:
76 And out of the tribe of Năph‑́tă‑lī; Kē‑́dĕsh in Găl‑́ĭ‑le᷍e with her suburbs, and Hăm‑́mŏn with her suburbs, and Kĭr‑jă‑thā‑́ĭm with her suburbs.
77 Unto the rest of the children of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī [were given] out of the tribe of Zĕ‑bū‑́lŭn, Rĭm‑́mo̱n with her suburbs, Tā‑́bôr with her suburbs:
78 And on the other side Jôr‑́dăn by Jĕr‑́ĭ‑c͟hō, on the east side of Jôr‑́dăn, [were given them] out of the tribe of Re᷍u‑́bĕn, Bē‑́zĕr in the wilderness with her suburbs, and Jäh‑́zăh with her suburbs,
79 Kē‑́dĕ‑mōth also with her suburbs, and Mĕph‑́ā‑ăth with her suburbs:
80 And out of the tribe of Găd; Rā‑́mŏth in Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd with her suburbs, and Mā‑hă‑nā‑́ĭm with her suburbs,
81 And Hĕsh‑́bŏn with her suburbs, and Jā‑́zĕr with her suburbs.
CHAPTER 7
Now the sons of Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här [were], Tō‑́lă, and Pū‑́ăh, Jăsh‑́ŭb, and Shĭm‑́rŏn, four.
2 And the sons of Tō‑́lă; Ŭz‑́zī, and Rĕ‑pha᷍i‑́ăh, and Jĕr‑́ĭ‑ĕl, and Jäh‑́mā‑ī, and Jĭb‑́săm, and Shĕ‑mū‑́ĕl, heads of their father’s house, [to wit], of Tō‑́lă: [they were] valiant men of might in their generations; whose number [was] in the days of Dā‑́vĭd two and twenty thousand and six hundred.
3 And the sons of Ŭz‑́zī; Ĭz‑ră‑hī‑́ăh: and the sons of Ĭz‑ră‑hī‑́ăh; Mī‑́c͟hā‑ĕl, and Ō‑bă‑dī‑́ăh, and Jō‑́ĕl, Ĭsh‑ī‑́ăh, five: all of them chief men.
4 And with them, by their generations, after the house of their fathers, [were] bands of soldiers for war, six and thirty thousand [men]: for they had many wives and sons.
5 And their brethren among all the families of Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här [were] valiant men of might, reckoned in all by their genealogies fourscore and seven thousand.
6 ¶ [The sons] of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn; Bē‑́lă, and Bē‑́c͟hĕr, and Jĕd‑ĭ‑ā‑́ĕl, three.
7 And the sons of Bē‑́lă; Ĕz‑́bŏn, and Ŭz‑́zī, and Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl, and Jĕr‑́ĭ‑mōth, and Ī‑́rī, five; heads of the house of [their] fathers, mighty men of valour; and were reckoned by their genealogies twenty and two thousand and thirty and four.
8 And the sons of Bē‑́c͟hĕr; Zĕ‑mī‑́ră, and Jō‑́ăsh, and Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́zĕr, and Ĕl‑ĭ‑ō‑ē‑́na᷍i, and Ŏm‑́rī, and Jĕr‑́ĭ‑mōth, and Ă‑bī‑́ăh, and Ăn‑́ă‑thōth, and Ăl‑́ă‑mĕth. All these [are] the sons of Bē‑́c͟hĕr.
9 And the number of them, after their genealogy by their generations, heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour, [was] twenty thousand and two hundred.
10 The sons also of Jĕd‑ĭ‑ā‑́ĕl; Bĭl‑́hăn: and the sons of Bĭl‑́hăn; Jē‑́ŭsh, and Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn, and Ē‑́hŭd, and C͟hĕ‑nā‑́ă‑năh, and Zē‑́thăn, and Thär‑́shĭsh, and Ă‑hī‑́shā‑här.
11 All these the sons of Jĕd‑ĭ‑ā‑́ĕl, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, [were] seventeen thousand and two hundred [soldiers], fit to go out for war [and] battle.
12 Shŭp‑́pĭm also, and Hŭp‑́pĭm, the children of Ĭr, [and] Hū‑́shĭm, the sons of Ā‑́hĕr.
13 ¶ The sons of Năph‑́tă‑lī; Jäh‑́zĭ‑ĕl, and Gū‑́nī, and Jēz‑́ĕr, and Shăl‑́lŭm, the sons of Bĭl‑́häh.
14 ¶ The sons of Mă‑năs‑́sēh; Ăsh‑́rĭ‑ĕl, whom she bare: ([but] his concubine the Âr‑ăm‑ī‑́tĕss bare Mā‑́c͟hĭr the father of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd:
15 And Mā‑́c͟hĭr took to wife [the sister] of Hŭp‑́pĭm and Shŭp‑́pĭm, whose sister’s name [was] Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh;) and the name of the second [was] Zĕ‑lŏph‑́ĕ‑hăd: and Zĕ‑lŏph‑́ĕ‑hăd had daughters.
16 And Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh the wife of Mā‑́c͟hĭr bare a son, and she called his name Pē‑́rĕsh; and the name of his brother [was] Shē‑́rĕsh; and his sons [were] Ū‑́lăm and Rā‑́kĕm.
17 And the sons of Ū‑́lăm; Bē‑́dăn. These [were] the sons of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd, the son of Mā‑́c͟hĭr, the son of Mă‑năs‑́sēh.
18 And his sister Hăm‑mō‑́lĕ‑kĕth bare Ī‑́shŏd, and Ā‑bī‑ē‑́zĕr, and Mă‑hā‑́läh.
19 And the sons of Shĕ‑mī‑́dă were, Ă‑hī‑́ăn, and Shē‑́c͟hĕm, and Lĭk‑́hī, and Ă‑nī‑́ăm.
20 ¶ And the sons of Ē‑́phră‑ĭm; Shû‑thē‑́läh, and Bē‑́rĕd his son, and Tā‑́hăth his son, and Ĕl‑́ă‑dăh his son, and Tā‑́hăth his son,
21 ¶ And Zā‑́băd his son, and Shû‑thē‑́läh his son, and Ē‑́zĕr, and Ĕl‑́ĕ‑ăd, whom the men of Găth [that were] born in [that] land slew, because they came down to take away their cattle.
22 And Ē‑́phră‑ĭm their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.
23 ¶ And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Bĕ‑rī‑́ăh, because it went evil with his house.
24 (And his daughter [was] Shē‑́räh, who built Bĕth–hôr‑́ŏn the nether, and the upper, and Ŭz‑́zĕn–shē‑́räh.)
25 And Rē‑́phäh [was] his son, also Rē‑́shĕph, and Tē‑́läh his son, and Tā‑́hăn his son,
26 Lā‑́ă‑dăn his son, Ăm‑́mĭ‑hŭd his son, Ē‑lī‑́shă‑mă his son,
27 Nŏn his son, Jĕ‑hŏsh‑́ū‑ă his son.
28 ¶ And their possessions and habitations [were], Bĕth–́ĕl and the towns thereof, and east­ward Nā‑́ă‑răn, and west­ward Gē‑́zĕr, with the towns thereof; Shē‑́c͟hĕm also and the towns thereof, unto Gā‑́ză and the towns thereof:
29 And by the borders of the children of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, Bĕth–shē‑́ăn and her towns, Tā‑́ă‑năc͟h and her towns, Mĕ‑gĭd‑́dō and her towns, Dôr and her towns. In these dwelt the children of Jō‑́ṡĕph the son of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
30 ¶ The sons of Ăsh‑́ĕr; Ĭm‑́năh, and Ĭs‑́ū‑ăh, and Ĭsh‑́ū‑a᷍i, and Bĕ‑rī‑́ăh, and Sē‑́răh their sister.
31 And the sons of Bĕ‑rī‑́ăh; Hē‑́bĕr, and Măl‑́c͟hĭ‑ĕl, who [is] the father of Bĭr‑zā‑́vĭth.
32 And Hē‑́bĕr begat Jăph‑́lĕt, and Shō‑́mĕr, and Hō‑́thăm, and Shû‑́ă their sister.
33 And the sons of Jăph‑́lĕt; Pā‑́săc͟h, and Bĭm‑́hăl, and Ăsh‑́văth. These [are] the children of Jăph‑́lĕt.
34 And the sons of Shā‑́mĕr; Ā‑́hī, and Rōh‑́găh, Jĕ‑hŭb‑́băh, and Âr‑́ăm.
35 And the sons of his brother Hē‑́lĕm; Zō‑́phăh, and Ĭm‑́nă, and Shē‑́lĕsh, and Ā‑́măl.
36 The sons of Zō‑́phăh; Sū‑́ăh, and Här‑́nĕ‑phĕr, and Shû‑́ăl, and Bē‑́rī, and Ĭm‑́răh,
37 Bē‑́zĕr, and Hŏd, and Shăm‑́mă, and Shĭl‑́shăh, and Ĭth‑́răn, and Be᷍er‑́ă.
38 And the sons of Jē‑́thĕr; Jĕ‑phŭn‑́nēh, and Pĭs‑́păh, and Âr‑́ă.
39 And the sons of Ŭl‑́lă; Âr‑́ăh, and Hăn‑́ĭ‑ĕl, and Rē‑́zĭ‑ă.
40 All these [were] the children of Ăsh‑́ĕr, heads of [their] father’s house, choice [and] mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number through­out the genealogy of them that were apt to the war [and] to battle [was] twenty and six thousand men.
CHAPTER 8
Now Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn begat Bē‑́lă his first­born, Ăsh‑́bĕl the second, and Ă‑hâr‑́ăh the third,
2 Nō‑́häh the fourth, and Rā‑́phă the fifth.
3 And the sons of Bē‑́lă were, Ăd‑́där, and Gē‑́ră, and Ă‑bī‑́hŭd,
4 And Ă‑bī‑́shû‑ă, and Nā‑́ă‑măn, and Ă‑hō‑́ăh,
5 And Gē‑́ră, and Shĕ‑phū‑́phăn, and Hū‑́răm.
6 And these [are] the sons of Ē‑́hŭd: these are the heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of Gē‑́bă, and they removed them to Măn‑́ă‑hăth:
7 And Nā‑́ă‑măn, and Ă‑hī‑́ăh, and Gē‑́ră, he removed them, and begat Ŭz‑́ză, and Ă‑hī‑́hŭd.
8 And Shā‑hă‑rā‑́im begat [children] in the country of Mō‑́ăb, after he had sent them away; Hū‑́shĭm and Bā‑́ă‑ră [were] his wives.
9 And he begat of Hō‑́dĕsh his wife, Jō‑́băb, and Zī‑́bĭ‑ă, and Mē‑́shă, and Măl‑́c͟hăm,
10 And Jē‑́ŭz, and Shă‑c͟hī‑́ă, and Mĭr‑́mă. These [were] his sons, heads of the fathers.
11 And of Hū‑́shĭm he begat Ă‑bī‑́tŭb, and Ĕl‑pā‑́ăl.
12 The sons of Ĕl‑pā‑́ăl; Ē‑́bĕr, and Mī‑́shăm, and Shā‑́mĕd, who built Ō‑́nō, and Lŏd, with the towns thereof:
13 Bĕ‑rī‑́ăh also, and Shē‑́mă, who [were] heads of the fathers of the inhabitants of A᷍i‑́jă‑lŏn, who drove away the inhabitants of Găth:
14 And Ă‑hī‑́ō, Shā‑́shăk, and Jĕr‑́ĕ‑mōth,
15 And Zĕb‑ă‑dī‑́ăh, and Âr‑́ăd, and Ā‑́dĕr,
16 And Mī‑́c͟hā‑ĕl, and Ĭs‑́păh, and Jō‑́hă, the sons of Bĕ‑rī‑́ăh;
17 And Zĕb‑ă‑dī‑́ăh, and Mĕ‑shŭl‑́lăm, and Hĕz‑́ē‑kī, and Hē‑́bĕr,
18 Ĭsh‑́mĕ‑ra᷍i also, and Jĕz‑lī‑́ăh, and Jō‑́băb, the sons of Ĕl‑pā‑́ăl;
19 And Jā‑́kĭm, and Zĭch‑́rī, and Zăb‑́dī,
20 And Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́na᷍i, and Zĭl‑́tha᷍i, and Ē‑lī‑́ĕl,
21 And Ă‑da᷍i‑́ăh, and Bĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ăh, and Shĭm‑́răth, the sons of Shĭm‑́hī;
22 And Ĭsh‑́păn, and Hē‑́bĕr, and Ē‑lī‑́ĕl,
23 And Ăb‑́dŏn, and Zĭch‑́rī, and Hā‑́năn,
24 And Hăn‑ă‑nī‑́ăh, and Ē‑́lăm, and Ăn‑tō‑thī‑́jăh,
25 And Ĭph‑ĕ‑de᷍i‑́ăh, and Pĕn‑́ū‑ĕl, the sons of Shā‑́shăk;
26 And Shăm‑́shĕ‑ra᷍i, and Shē‑hă‑rī‑́ăh, and Ăth‑ă‑lī‑́ăh,
27 And Jăr‑ĕ‑sī‑́ăh, and Ē‑lī‑́ăh, and Zĭch‑́rī, the sons of Jĕ‑rō‑́hăm.
28 These [were] heads of the fathers, by their generations, chief [men]. These dwelt in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
29 And at Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n dwelt the father of Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n; whose wife’s name [was] Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh:
30 And his first­born son Ăb‑́dŏn, and Zu̇r, and Kĭsh, and Bā‑́ăl, and Nā‑́dăb,
31 And Gē‑́dôr, and Ă‑hī‑́ō, and Zā‑́c͟hĕr.
32 And Mĭk‑́lōth begat Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ăh. And these also dwelt with their brethren in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm, over against them.
33 ¶ And Nĕr begat Kĭsh, and Kĭsh begat Sa᷍ul, and Sa᷍ul begat Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn, and Măl‑́chī–shû‑́ă, and Ă‑bĭn‑́ă‑dăb, and Ĕsh–bā‑́ăl.
34 And the son of Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn [was] Mĕr‑́ĭb–bā‑́ăl; and Mĕr‑́ĭb–bā‑́ăl begat Mī‑́căh.
35 And the sons of Mī‑́căh [were], Pīth‑́ŏn, and Mē‑́lĕch, and Târ‑́ĕ‑ă, and Ā‑́hăz.
36 And Ā‑́hăz begat Jĕ‑hō‑́ă‑dăh; and Jĕ‑hō‑́ă‑dăh begat Ăl‑́ĕ‑mĕth, and Ăz‑mā‑́vĕth, and Zĭm‑́rī; and Zĭm‑́rī begat Mō‑́ză,
37 And Mō‑́ză begat Bī‑́nĕ‑ă: Rā‑́phă [was] his son, Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́săh his son, Ā‑́zĕl his son:
38 And Ā‑́zĕl had six sons, whose names [are] these, Ăz‑rī‑́kăm, Bō‑́c͟hĕ‑rû, and Ĭsh‑́mā‑ĕl, and Shē‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Ō‑bă‑dī‑́ăh, and Hā‑́năn. All these [were] the sons of Ā‑́zĕl.
39 And the sons of Ē‑́shĕk his brother [were], Ū‑́lăm his first­born, Jē‑́hŭsh the second, and Ē‑lĭph‑́ĕ‑lĕt the third.
40 And the sons of Ū‑́lăm were mighty men of valour, archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these [are] of the sons of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn.
CHAPTER 9
So all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they [were] written in the book of the kings of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl and Jûd‑́ăh, [who] were carried away to Băb‑́y̆‑lo̱n for their transgression.
2 ¶ Now the first inhabitants that [dwelt] in their possessions in their cities [were], the Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl‑ītes, the priests, Lē‑́vītes, and the Nĕth‑́ĭ‑nĭmṡ.
3 And in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm dwelt of the children of Jûd‑́ăh, and of the children of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn, and of the children of Ē‑́phră‑ĭm, and Mă‑năs‑́sēh;
4 Ū‑́tha᷍i the son of Ăm‑́mĭ‑hŭd, the son of Ŏm‑́rī, the son of Ĭm‑́rī, the son of Bā‑́nī, of the children of Phâr‑́ĕz the son of Jûd‑́ăh.
5 And of the Shī‑́lō‑nītes; Ă‑sa᷍i‑́ăh the first­born, and his sons.
6 And of the sons of Zē‑́räh; Je᷍u‑́ĕl, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety.
7 And of the sons of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn; Săl‑́lû the son of Mĕ‑shŭl‑́lăm, the son of Hō‑dă‑vī‑́ăh, the son of Hăs‑ĕ‑nū‑́ăh,
8 And Ĭb‑ne᷍i‑́ăh the son of Jĕ‑rō‑́hăm, and Ē‑́lăh the son of Ŭz‑́zī, the son of Mĭc͟h‑́rī, and Mĕ‑shŭl‑́lăm the son of Shĕph‑ă‑thī‑́ăh, the son of Re᷍u‑́ĕl, the son of Ĭb‑nī‑́jăh;
9 And their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty and six. All these men [were] chief of the fathers in the house of their fathers.
10 ¶ And of the priests; Jĕ‑da᷍i‑́ăh, and Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑rĭb, and Jā‑́c͟hĭn,
11 And Ăz‑ă‑rī‑́ăh the son of Hĭl‑kī‑́ăh, the son of Mĕ‑shŭl‑́lăm, the son of Zā‑́dŏk, the son of Mĕ‑ra᷍i‑́ōth, the son of Ă‑hī‑́tŭb, the ruler of the house of God;
12 And Ă‑da᷍i‑́ăh the son of Jĕ‑rō‑́hăm, the son of Păsh‑́u̇r, the son of Măl‑chī‑́jăh, and Mā‑ăs‑ĭ‑ā‑́ī the son of Ăd‑́ĭ‑ĕl, the son of Jäh‑́zĕ‑răh, the son of Mĕ‑shŭl‑́lăm, the son of Mĕ‑shĭl‑́lĕ‑mĭth, the son of Ĭm‑́mĕr;
13 And their brethren, heads of the house of their fathers, a thousand and seven hundred and threescore; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.
14 And of the Lē‑́vītes; Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh the son of Hăs‑́shŭb, the son of Ăz‑rī‑́kăm, the son of Hăsh‑ă‑bī‑́ăh, of the sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī;
15 And Băk‑băk‑́kär, Hē‑́rĕsh, and Gā‑́lăl, and Măt‑tă‑nī‑́ăh the son of Mī‑́căh, the son of Zĭch‑́rī, the son of Ā‑́săph;
16 And Ō‑bă‑dī‑́ăh the son of Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh, the son of Gā‑́lăl, the son of Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn, and Bĕr‑ē‑c͟hī‑́ăh the son of Ā‑́să, the son of Ĕl‑kā‑́năh, that dwelt in the villages of the Nĕ‑tŏph‑́ă‑thītes.
17 And the porters [were], Shăl‑́lŭm, and Ăk‑́kŭb, and Tăl‑́mŏn, and Ă‑hī‑́măn, and their brethren: Shăl‑́lŭm [was] the chief;
18 Who hitherto [waited] in the king’s gate east­ward: they [were] porters in the companies of the children of Lē‑́vī.
19 And Shăl‑́lŭm the son of Kôr‑́ē, the son of Ē‑bī‑́ă‑săph, the son of Kôr‑́ăh, and his brethren, of the house of his father, the Kôr‑́ă‑hītes, [were] over the work of the service, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle: and their fathers, [being] over the host of the LORD, [were] keepers of the entry.
20 And Phĭn‑́ĕ‑hăṡ the son of Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär was the ruler over them in time past, [and] the LORD [was] with him.
21 [And] Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh the son of Mĕ‑shĕl‑ĕ‑mī‑́ăh [was] porter of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
22 All these [which were] chosen to be porters in the gates [were] two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom Dā‑́vĭd and Săm‑́ū‑ĕl the seer did ordain in their set office.
23 So they and their children [had] the over­sight of the gates of the house of the LORD, [namely], the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
24 In four quarters were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south.
25 And their brethren, [which were] in their villages, [were] to come after seven days from time to time with them.
26 For these Lē‑́vītes, the four chief porters, were in [their] set office, and were over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.
27 ¶ And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge [was] upon them, and the opening thereof every morning [pertained] to them.
28 And [certain] of them had the charge of the ministering vessels, that they should bring them in and out by tale.
29 [Some] of them also [were] appointed to over­see the vessels, and all the instruments of the sanctuary, and the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.
30 And [some] of the sons of the priests made the ointment of the spices.
31 And Măt‑tĭ‑thī‑́ăh, [one] of the Lē‑́vītes, who [was] the first­born of Shăl‑́lŭm the Kôr‑́ă‑hīte, had the set office over the things that were made in the pans.
32 And [other] of their brethren, of the sons of the Kō‑́hăth‑ītes, [were] over the shew­bread, to prepare [it] every sabbath.
33 And these [are] the singers, chief of the fathers of the Lē‑́vītes, [who remaining] in the chambers [were] free: for they were employed in [that] work day and night.
34 These chief fathers of the Lē‑́vītes [were] chief through­out their generations; these dwelt at Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
35 ¶ And in Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n dwelt the father of Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n, Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl, whose wife’s name [was] Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh:
36 And his first­born son Ăb‑́dŏn, then Zu̇r, and Kĭsh, and Bā‑́ăl, and Nĕr, and Nā‑́dăb,
37 And Gē‑́dôr, and Ă‑hī‑́ō, and Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Mĭk‑́lōth.
38 And Mĭk‑́lōth begat Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ăm. And they also dwelt with their brethren at Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm, over against their brethren.
39 And Nĕr begat Kĭsh; and Kĭsh begat Sa᷍ul; and Sa᷍ul begat Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn, and Măl‑́chī–shû‑́ă, and Ă‑bĭn‑́ă‑dăb, and Ĕsh–bā‑́ăl.
40 And the son of Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn [was] Mĕr‑́ĭb–bā‑́ăl: and Mĕr‑́ĭb–bā‑́ăl begat Mī‑́căh.
41 And the sons of Mī‑́căh [were], Pīth‑́ŏn, and Mē‑́lĕch, and Täh‑́rĕ‑ă, [and Ā‑́hăz].
42 And Ā‑́hăz begat Jâr‑́ăh; and Jâr‑́ăh begat Ăl‑́ĕ‑mĕth, and Ăz‑mā‑́vĕth, and Zĭm‑́rī; and Zĭm‑́rī begat Mō‑́ză;
43 And Mō‑́ză begat Bī‑́nĕ‑ă; and Rĕ‑pha᷍i‑́ăh his son, Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́săh his son, Ā‑́zĕl his son.
44 And Ā‑́zĕl had six sons, whose names [are] these, Ăz‑rī‑́kăm, Bō‑́c͟hĕ‑rû, and Ĭsh‑́mā‑ĕl, and Shē‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Ō‑bă‑dī‑́ăh, and Hā‑́năn: these [were] the sons of Ā‑́zĕl.
CHAPTER 10
Now the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ fought against Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl; and the men of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl fled from before the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ, and fell down slain in mount Gĭl‑bō‑́ă.
2 And the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ followed hard after Sa᷍ul, and after his sons; and the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ slew Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn, and Ă‑bĭn‑́ă‑dăb, and Măl‑́chī–shû‑́ă, the sons of Sa᷍ul.
3 And the battle went sore against Sa᷍ul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.
4 Then said Sa᷍ul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through there­with; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Sa᷍ul took a sword, and fell upon it.
5 And when his armourbearer saw that Sa᷍ul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.
6 So Sa᷍ul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.
7 And when all the men of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl that [were] in the valley saw that they fled, and that Sa᷍ul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ came and dwelt in them.
8 ¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ came to strip the slain, that they found Sa᷍ul and his sons fallen in mount Gĭl‑bō‑́ă.
9 And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.
10 And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dā‑́gŏn.
11 ¶ And when all Jā‑́bĕsh–gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd heard all that the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ had done to Sa᷍ul,
12 They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Sa᷍ul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jā‑́bĕsh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jā‑́bĕsh, and fasted seven days.
13 ¶ So Sa᷍ul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, [even] against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking [counsel] of [one that had] a familiar spirit, to inquire [of it];
14 And inquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto Dā‑́vĭd the son of Jĕs‑́sĕ.
CHAPTER 11
Then all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl gathered them­selves to Dā‑́vĭd unto Hē‑́brŏn, saying, Behold, we [are] thy bone and thy flesh.
2 And more­over in time past, even when Sa᷍ul was king, thou [wast] he that leddest out and broughtest in Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl: and the LORD thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
3 Therefore came all the elders of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl to the king to Hē‑́brŏn; and Dā‑́vĭd made a covenant with them in Hē‑́brŏn before the LORD; and they anointed Dā‑́vĭd king over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, according to the word of the LORD by Săm‑́ū‑ĕl.
4 ¶ And Dā‑́vĭd and all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl went to Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm, which [is] Jē‑́bŭs; where the Jĕb‑́ū‑ṡītes [were], the inhabitants of the land.
5 And the inhabitants of Jē‑́bŭs said to Dā‑́vĭd, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless Dā‑́vĭd took the castle of Zī‑́o̱n, which [is] the city of Dā‑́vĭd.
6 And Dā‑́vĭd said, Who­soever smiteth the Jĕb‑́ū‑ṡītes first shall be chief and captain. So Jō‑́ăb the son of Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh went first up, and was chief.
7 And Dā‑́vĭd dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of Dā‑́vĭd.
8 And he built the city round about, even from Mĭl‑́lō round about: and Jō‑́ăb repaired the rest of the city.
9 So Dā‑́vĭd waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts [was] with him.
10 ¶ These also [are] the chief of the mighty men whom Dā‑́vĭd had, who strengthened them­selves with him in his kingdom, [and] with all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
11 And this [is] the number of the mighty men whom Dā‑́vĭd had; Jă‑shŏb‑́ĕ‑ăm, an Hăc͟h‑́mō‑nīte, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain [by him] at one time.
12 And after him [was] Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär the son of Dō‑́dō, the Ă‑hō‑́hīte, who [was one] of the three mighties.
13 He was with Dā‑́vĭd at Păs–dăm‑́mĭm, and there the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ.
14 And they set them­selves in the midst of [that] parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ; and the LORD saved [them] by a great deliverance.
15 ¶ Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to Dā‑́vĭd, into the cave of Ă‑dŭl‑́lăm; and the host of the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ encamped in the valley of Rĕph‑́ā‑ĭm.
16 And Dā‑́vĭd [was] then in the hold, and the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ’ garrison [was] then at Bĕth–́lĕ‑hĕm.
17 And Dā‑́vĭd longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bĕth–́lĕ‑hĕm, that [is] at the gate!
18 And the three brake through the host of the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ, and drew water out of the well of Bĕth–́lĕ‑hĕm, that [was] by the gate, and took [it], and brought [it] to Dā‑́vĭd: but Dā‑́vĭd would not drink [of] it, but poured it out to the LORD,
19 And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with [the jeopardy of] their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
20 ¶ And Ăb‑́ĭ‑sha᷍i the brother of Jō‑́ăb, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew [them], and had a name among the three.
21 Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the [first] three.
22 Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh the son of Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑dă, the son of a valiant man of Kăb‑́ze᷍el, who had done many acts; he slew two lion­like men of Mō‑́ăb: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
23 And he slew an Ē‑ġy̆p‑́ti̅ăn, a man of [great] stature, five cubits high; and in the Ē‑ġy̆p‑́ti̅ăn’s hand [was] a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Ē‑ġy̆p‑́ti̅ăn’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.
24 These [things] did Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh the son of Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑dă, and had the name among the three mighties.
25 Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the [first] three: and Dā‑́vĭd set him over his guard.
26 ¶ Also the valiant men of the armies [were], Ăs‑́ă‑hĕl the brother of Jō‑́ăb, Ĕl‑hā‑́năn the son of Dō‑́dō of Bĕth–́lĕ‑hĕm,
27 Shăm‑́mōth the Hâr‑́ō‑rīte, Hē‑́lĕz the Pē‑́lō‑nīte,
28 Ī‑́ră the son of Ĭk‑́kĕsh the Tĕ‑kō‑́īte, Ā‑́bī–ē‑́zĕr the Ăn‑́tō‑thīte,
29 Sĭb‑́bĕ‑ca᷍i the Hūsh‑́ă‑thīte, Ī‑́lā‑ī the Ă‑hō‑́hīte,
30 Mā‑́hă‑ra᷍i the Nĕ‑tŏph‑́ă‑thīte, Hē‑́lĕd the son of Bā‑́ă‑năh the Nĕ‑tŏph‑́ă‑thīte,
31 Ī‑thā‑́ī the son of Rī‑bā‑́ī of Gĭb‑́ĕ‑ăh, [that pertained] to the children of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn, Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh the Pī‑rā‑́thŏn‑īte,
32 Hū‑rā‑́ī of the brooks of Gā‑́ăsh, Ă‑bī‑́ĕl the Är‑́bă‑thīte,
33 Ăz‑mā‑́vĕth the Bā‑hă‑rû‑́mīte, Ē‑lī‑äh‑́bă the Shā‑ăl‑bō‑́nīte,
34 The sons of Hăsh‑́ĕm the Gī‑́zŏn‑īte, Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn the son of Shā‑́gē the Hâr‑́ă‑rīte,
35 Ă‑hī‑́ăm the son of Sā‑́cär the Hâr‑́ă‑rīte, Ē‑lī‑́phăl the son of U̇r,
36 Hē‑́phĕr the Mĕ‑c͟hē‑́ră‑thīte, Ă‑hī‑́jăh the Pē‑́lō‑nīte,
37 Hĕz‑́rō the Cär‑́mĕl‑īte, Nā‑́ă‑ra᷍i the son of Ĕz‑́ba᷍i,
38 Jō‑́ĕl the brother of Nā‑́thăn, Mĭb‑́här the son of Hăg‑gē‑́rī,
39 Zē‑́lĕk the Ăm‑́mo̱n‑īte, Nā‑́hă‑ra᷍i the Bē‑́rō‑thīte, the armourbearer of Jō‑́ăb the son of Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh,
40 Ī‑́ră the Ĭth‑́rīte, Gâr‑́ĕb the Ĭth‑́rīte,
41 Ū‑rī‑́ăh the Hĭt‑́tīte, Zā‑́băd the son of Äh‑́lā‑ī,
42 Ăd‑́ĭ‑nă the son of Shī‑́ză the Re᷍u‑́bĕn‑īte, a captain of the Re᷍u‑́bĕn‑ītes, and thirty with him,
43 Hā‑́năn the son of Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh, and Jŏsh‑́ă‑phăt the Mĭth‑́nīte,
44 Ŭz‑zī‑́ă the Ăsh‑tē‑́ră‑thīte, Shā‑́mă and Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl the sons of Hō‑́thăn the Ă‑rō‑́ĕr‑ite,
45 Jĕd‑ĭ‑ā‑́ĕl the son of Shĭm‑́rī, and Jō‑́hă his brother, the Tī‑́zīte,
46 Ē‑lī‑́ĕl the Mă‑hā‑́vīte, and Jĕr‑ĭ‑bā‑́ī, and Jŏsh‑ă‑vī‑́ăh, the sons of Ĕl‑nā‑́ăm, and Ĭth‑́măh the Mō‑́ăb‑īte,
47 Ē‑lī‑́ĕl, and Ō‑́bĕd, and Jăs‑́ĭ‑ĕl the Mĕ‑sŏb‑́ā‑īte.
CHAPTER 12
Now these [are] they that came to Dā‑́vĭd to Zĭk‑́lăg, while he yet kept him­self close because of Sa᷍ul the son of Kĭsh: and they [were] among the mighty men, helpers of the war.
2 [They were] armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in [hurling] stones and [shooting] arrows out of a bow, [even] of Sa᷍ul’s brethren of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn.
3 The chief [was] Ā‑hī‑ē‑́zĕr, then Jō‑́ăsh, the sons of Shĕm‑́ă‑ăh the Gĭb‑́ĕ‑ă‑thīte; and Jē‑́zĭ‑ĕl, and Pē‑́lĕt, the sons of Ăz‑mā‑́vĕth; and Bĕ‑rā‑́c͟hăh, and Jē‑́hū the Ăn‑́tō‑thīte,
4 And Ĭs‑ma᷍i‑́ăh the Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n‑īte, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Jĕr‑ē‑mī‑́ăh, and Jă‑hā‑́zĭ‑ĕl, and Jō‑hā‑́năn, and Jŏs‑́ă‑băd the Gĕ‑dē‑́ră‑thīte,
5 Ē‑lū‑́za᷍i, and Jĕr‑́ĭ‑mōth, and Bē‑ă‑lī‑́ăh, and Shĕm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Shĕph‑ă‑tī‑́ăh the Hă‑rū‑́phīte,
6 Ĕl‑kā‑́năh, and Jĕ‑sī‑́ăh, and Ăz‑́ă‑re᷍el, and Jō‑ē‑́zĕr, and Jă‑shŏb‑́ĕ‑ăm, the Kôr‑́hītes,
7 And Jō‑ē‑́lăh, and Zĕb‑ă‑dī‑́ăh, the sons of Jĕ‑rō‑́hăm of Gē‑́dôr.
8 And of the Găd‑́ītes there separated them­selves unto Dā‑́vĭd into the hold to the wilderness men of might, [and] men of war [fit] for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces [were like] the faces of lions, and [were] as swift as the roes upon the mountains;
9 Ē‑́zĕr the first, Ō‑bă‑dī‑́ăh the second, Ē‑lī‑́ăb the third,
10 Mĭsh‑măn‑́năh the fourth, Jĕr‑ē‑mī‑́ăh the fifth,
11 Ăt‑́tā‑ī the sixth, Ē‑lī‑́ĕl the seventh,
12 Jō‑hā‑́năn the eighth, Ĕl‑zā‑́băd the ninth,
13 Jĕr‑ē‑mī‑́ăh the tenth, Măc͟h‑bā‑́na᷍i the eleventh.
14 These [were] of the sons of Găd, captains of the host: one of the least [was] over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.
15 These [are] they that went over Jôr‑́dăn in the first month, when it had over­flown all his banks; and they put to flight all [them] of the valleys, [both] toward the east, and toward the west.
16 And there came of the children of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn and Jûd‑́ăh to the hold unto Dā‑́vĭd.
17 And Dā‑́vĭd went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if [ye be come] to betray me to mine enemies, seeing [there is] no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look [thereon], and rebuke [it].
18 Then the spirit came upon Ă‑mā‑́sa᷍i, [who was] chief of the captains, [and he said], Thine [are we], Dā‑́vĭd, and on thy side, thou son of Jĕs‑́sĕ: peace, peace [be] unto thee, and peace [be] to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then Dā‑́vĭd received them, and made them captains of the band.
19 And there fell [some] of Mă‑năs‑́sēh to Dā‑́vĭd, when he came with the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ against Sa᷍ul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Sa᷍ul to [the jeopardy of] our heads.
20 As he went to Zĭk‑́lăg, there fell to him of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, Ăd‑́năh, and Jōz‑́ă‑băd, and Jĕd‑ĭ‑ā‑́ĕl, and Mī‑́c͟hā‑ĕl, and Jōz‑́ă‑băd, and Ĕ‑lī‑́hū, and Zĭl‑́tha᷍i, captains of the thousands that [were] of Mă‑năs‑́sēh.
21 And they helped Dā‑́vĭd against the band [of the rovers]: for they [were] all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.
22 For at [that] time day by day there came to Dā‑́vĭd to help him, until [it was] a great host, like the host of God.
23 ¶ And these [are] the numbers of the bands [that were] ready armed to the war, [and] came to Dā‑́vĭd to Hē‑́brŏn, to turn the kingdom of Sa᷍ul to him, according to the word of the LORD.
24 The children of Jûd‑́ăh that bare shield and spear [were] six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war.
25 Of the children of Sĭm‑́ĕ‑o̱n, mighty men of valour for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.
26 Of the children of Lē‑́vī four thousand and six hundred.
27 And Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑dă [was] the leader of the A᷍a‑́ro̱n‑ītes, and with him [were] three thousand and seven hundred;
28 And Zā‑́dŏk, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father’s house twenty and two captains.
29 And of the children of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn, the kindred of Sa᷍ul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Sa᷍ul.
30 And of the children of Ē‑́phră‑ĭm twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous through­out the house of their fathers.
31 And of the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make Dā‑́vĭd king.
32 And of the children of Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här, [which were men] that had under­standing of the times, to know what Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl ought to do; the heads of them [were] two hundred; and all their brethren [were] at their commandment.
33 Of Zĕ‑bū‑́lŭn, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: [they were] not of double heart.
34 And of Năph‑́tă‑lī a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.
35 And of the Dăn‑́ītes expert in war twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.
36 And of Ăsh‑́ĕr, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, forty thousand.
37 And on the other side of Jôr‑́dăn, of the Re᷍u‑́bĕn‑ītes, and the Găd‑́ītes, and of the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.
38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hē‑́brŏn, to make Dā‑́vĭd king over all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl: and all the rest also of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl [were] of one heart to make Dā‑́vĭd king.
39 And there they were with Dā‑́vĭd three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.
40 More­over they that were nigh them, [even] unto Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här and Zĕ‑bū‑́lŭn and Năph‑́tă‑lī, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, [and] meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for [there was] joy in Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
CHAPTER 13
And Dā‑́vĭd consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, [and] with every leader.
2 And Dā‑́vĭd said unto all the congregation of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, If [it seem] good unto you, and [that it be] of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, [that are] left in all the land of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and with them [also] to the priests and Lē‑́vītes [which are] in their cities [and] suburbs, that they may gather them­selves unto us:
3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we inquired not at it in the days of Sa᷍ul.
4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5 So Dā‑́vĭd gathered all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl together, from Shī‑́hôr of Ē‑́ġy̆pt even unto the entering of Hē‑́măth, to bring the ark of God from Kĭr‑́jăth–jē‑́ă‑rĭm.
6 And Dā‑́vĭd went up, and all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, to Bā‑́ă‑läh, [that is], to Kĭr‑́jăth–jē‑́ă‑rĭm, which [belonged] to Jûd‑́ăh, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth [between] the chĕr‑́ū‑bĭms, whose name is called [on it].
7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Ă‑bĭn‑́ă‑dăb: and Ŭz‑́ză and Ă‑hī‑́ō drave the cart.
8 And Dā‑́vĭd and all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl played before God with all [their] might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9 ¶ And when they came unto the threshing­floor of C͟hī‑́dŏn, Ŭz‑́ză put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
10 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Ŭz‑́ză, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
11 And Dā‑́vĭd was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Ŭz‑́ză: wherefore that place is called Pē‑́rĕz–ŭz‑́ză to this day.
12 And Dā‑́vĭd was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God [home] to me?
13 So Dā‑́vĭd brought not the ark [home] to him­self to the city of Dā‑́vĭd, but carried it aside into the house of Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m the Gĭt‑́tīte.
14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m, and all that he had.
CHAPTER 14
Now Hī‑́răm king of Tȳre sent messengers to Dā‑́vĭd, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
2 And Dā‑́vĭd perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
3 ¶ And Dā‑́vĭd took more wives at Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm: and Dā‑́vĭd begat more sons and daughters.
4 Now these [are] the names of [his] children which he had in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm; Shăm‑́mū‑ă, and Shō‑́băb, Nā‑́thăn, and Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n,
5 And Ĭb‑́här, and Ē‑lī‑́shû‑ă, and Ĕl‑́pă‑lĕt,
6 And Nō‑́gäh, and Nĕph‑́ĕg, and Jă‑phī‑́ă,
7 And Ē‑lī‑́shă‑mă, and Be᷍e‑lī‑́ă‑dă, and Ē‑lĭph‑́ă‑lĕt.
8 ¶ And when the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ heard that Dā‑́vĭd was anointed king over all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, all the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ went up to seek Dā‑́vĭd. And Dā‑́vĭd heard [of it], and went out against them.
9 And the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ came and spread them­selves in the valley of Rĕph‑́ā‑ĭm.
10 And Dā‑́vĭd inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
11 So they came up to Bā‑́ăl–pĕ‑rā‑́zĭm; and Dā‑́vĭd smote them there. Then Dā‑́vĭd said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Bā‑́ăl–pĕ‑rā‑́zĭm.
12 And when they had left their gods there, Dā‑́vĭd gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13 And the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ yet again spread them­selves abroad in the valley.
14 Therefore Dā‑́vĭd inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, [that] then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ.
16 Dā‑́vĭd therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ from Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n even to Gā‑́zĕr.
17 And the fame of Dā‑́vĭd went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
CHAPTER 15
And [Dā‑́vĭd] made him houses in the city of Dā‑́vĭd, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
2 Then Dā‑́vĭd said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Lē‑́vītes: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.
3 And Dā‑́vĭd gathered all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl together to Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm, to bring up the ark of the LORD unto his place, which he had prepared for it.
4 And Dā‑́vĭd assembled the children of A᷍a‑́ro̱n, and the Lē‑́vītes:
5 Of the sons of Kō‑́hăth; Ū‑́rĭ‑ĕl the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:
6 Of the sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī; Ă‑sa᷍i‑́ăh the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty:
7 Of the sons of Gĕr‑́shŏm; Jō‑́ĕl the chief, and his brethren an hundred and thirty:
8 Of the sons of Ē‑lī‑zā‑́phăn; Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh the chief, and his brethren two hundred:
9 Of the sons of Hē‑́brŏn; Ē‑lī‑́ĕl the chief, and his brethren fourscore:
10 Of the sons of Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl; Ăm‑mĭn‑́ă‑dăb the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twelve.
11 And Dā‑́vĭd called for Zā‑́dŏk and Ă‑bī‑́ă‑thär the priests, and for the Lē‑́vītes, for Ū‑́rĭ‑ĕl, Ă‑sa᷍i‑́ăh, and Jō‑́ĕl, Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh, and Ē‑lī‑́ĕl, and Ăm‑mĭn‑́ă‑dăb,
12 And said unto them, Ye [are] the chief of the fathers of the Lē‑́vītes: sanctify your­selves, [both] ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl unto [the place that] I have prepared for it.
13 For because ye [did it] not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
14 So the priests and the Lē‑́vītes sanctified them­selves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
15 And the children of the Lē‑́vītes bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Mō‑́ṡĕṡ commanded according to the word of the LORD.
16 And Dā‑́vĭd spake to the chief of the Lē‑́vītes to appoint their brethren [to be] the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.
17 So the Lē‑́vītes appointed Hē‑́măn the son of Jō‑́ĕl; and of his brethren, Ā‑́săph the son of Bĕr‑ē‑c͟hī‑́ăh; and of the sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī their brethren, Ē‑́thăn the son of Kū‑sha᷍i‑́ăh;
18 And with them their brethren of the second [degree], Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, Bĕn, and Jā‑ā‑́zĭ‑ĕl, and Shĕ‑mī‑́ră‑mōth, and Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl, and Ŭn‑́nī, Ē‑lī‑́ăb, and Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh, and Mā‑ă‑se᷍i‑́ăh, and Măt‑tĭ‑thī‑́ăh, and Ē‑lĭph‑́ĕ‑lēh, and Mĭk‑ne᷍i‑́ăh, and Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m, and Jē‑ī‑́ĕl, the porters.
19 So the singers, Hē‑́măn, Ā‑́săph, and Ē‑́thăn, [were appointed] to sound with cymbals of brass;
20 And Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Ā‑́zĭ‑ĕl, and Shĕ‑mī‑́ră‑mōth, and Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl, and Ŭn‑́nī, and Ē‑lī‑́ăb, and Mā‑ă‑se᷍i‑́ăh, and Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh, with psalteries on Ăl‑́ă‑mōth;
21 And Măt‑tĭ‑thī‑́ăh, and Ē‑lĭph‑́ĕ‑lēh, and Mĭk‑ne᷍i‑́ăh, and Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m, and Jē‑ī‑́ĕl, and Ăz‑ă‑zī‑́ăh, with harps on the Shĕm‑́ĭn‑ĭth to excel.
22 And C͟hĕn‑ă‑nī‑́ăh, chief of the Lē‑́vītes, [was] for song: he instructed about the song, because he [was] skilful.
23 And Bĕr‑ē‑c͟hī‑́ăh and Ĕl‑kā‑́năh [were] door­keepers for the ark.
24 And Shĕb‑ă‑nī‑́ăh, and Jĕ‑hŏsh‑́ă‑phăt, and Nĕth‑́ă‑ne᷍el, and Ă‑mā‑́sa᷍i, and Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, and Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh, and Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́zĕr, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m and Jĕ‑hī‑́ăh [were] door­keepers for the ark.
25 ¶ So Dā‑́vĭd, and the elders of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m with joy.
26 And it came to pass, when God helped the Lē‑́vītes that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
27 And Dā‑́vĭd [was] clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Lē‑́vītes that bare the ark, and the singers, and C͟hĕn‑ă‑nī‑́ăh the master of the song with the singers: Dā‑́vĭd also [had] upon him an ē‑́phŏd of linen.
28 Thus all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.
29 ¶ And it came to pass, [as] the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of Dā‑́vĭd, that Mī‑́c͟hăl the daughter of Sa᷍ul looking out at a window saw king Dā‑́vĭd dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.
CHAPTER 16
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that Dā‑́vĭd had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
2 And when Dā‑́vĭd had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
3 And he dealt to every one of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon [of wine].
4 ¶ And he appointed [certain] of the Lē‑́vītes to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl:
5 Ā‑́săph the chief, and next to him Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh, Jē‑ī‑́ĕl, and Shĕ‑mī‑́ră‑mōth, and Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl, and Măt‑tĭ‑thī‑́ăh, and Ē‑lī‑́ăb, and Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh, and Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m: and Jē‑ī‑́ĕl with psalteries and with harps; but Ā‑́săph made a sound with cymbals;
6 Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh also and Jă‑hā‑́zĭ‑ĕl the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 ¶ Then on that day Dā‑́vĭd delivered first [this psalm] to thank the LORD into the hand of Ā‑́săph and his brethren.
8 Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.
10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.
12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
13 O ye seed of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl his servant, ye children of Jā‑́co̱b, his chosen ones.
14 He [is] the LORD our God; his judgments [are] in all the earth.
15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word [which] he commanded to a thousand generations;
16 [Even of the covenant] which he made with Ā‑́bră‑hăm, and of his oath unto Ī‑́ṡa̅a̅c;
17 And hath confirmed the same to Jā‑́co̱b for a law, [and] to Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl [for] an ever­lasting covenant,
18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Cā‑́nă‑ăn, the lot of your inheritance;
19 When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.
20 And [when] they went from nation to nation, and from [one] kingdom to another people;
21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,
22 [Saying], Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
23 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
25 For great [is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also [is] to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the people [are] idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
27 Glory and honour [are] in his presence; strength and gladness [are] in his place.
28 Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
29 Give unto the LORD the glory [due] unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let [men] say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.
32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that [is] therein.
33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.
34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, [and] glory in thy praise.
36 Blessed [be] the LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl for ever and ever. And all the people said, Ä‑́mĕn, and praised the LORD.
37 ¶ So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Ā‑́săph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:
38 And Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m with their brethren, threescore and eight; Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m also the son of Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn and Hō‑́săh [to be] porters:
39 And Zā‑́dŏk the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that [was] at Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n,
40 To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and [to do] according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl;
41 And with them Hē‑́măn and Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy [endureth] for ever;
42 And with them Hē‑́măn and Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn [were] porters.
43 And all the people departed every man to his house: and Dā‑́vĭd returned to bless his house.
CHAPTER 17
Now it came to pass, as Dā‑́vĭd sat in his house, that Dā‑́vĭd said to Nā‑́thăn the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD [remaineth] under curtains.
2 Then Nā‑́thăn said unto Dā‑́vĭd, Do all that [is] in thine heart; for God [is] with thee.
3 ¶ And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nā‑́thăn, saying,
4 Go and tell Dā‑́vĭd my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:
5 For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from [one] tabernacle [to another].
6 Where­soever I have walked with all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, spake I a word to any of the judges of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?
7 Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant Dā‑́vĭd, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, [even] from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl:
8 And I have been with thee whither­soever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that [are] in the earth.
9 Also I will ordain a place for my people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
10 And since the time that I commanded judges [to be] over my people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl. More­over I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.
11 ¶ And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go [to be] with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took [it] from [him] that was before thee:
14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for ever­more.
15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nā‑́thăn speak unto Dā‑́vĭd.
16 ¶ And Dā‑́vĭd the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who [am] I, O LORD God, and what [is] mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
17 And [yet] this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast [also] spoken of thy servant’s house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
18 What can Dā‑́vĭd [speak] more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
19 O LORD, for thy servant’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all [these] great things.
20 O LORD, [there is] none like thee, neither [is there any] God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21 And what one nation in the earth [is] like thy people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, whom God went to redeem [to be] his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Ē‑́ġy̆pt?
22 For thy people Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.
23 Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
24 Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts [is] the God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, [even] a God to Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl: and [let] the house of Dā‑́vĭd thy servant [be] established before thee.
25 For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found [in his heart] to pray before thee.
26 And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
27 Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and [it shall be] blessed for ever.
CHAPTER 18
Now after this it came to pass, that Dā‑́vĭd smote the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ, and subdued them, and took Găth and her towns out of the hand of the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ.
2 And he smote Mō‑́ăb; and the Mō‑́ăb‑ītes became Dā‑́vĭd’s servants, [and] brought gifts.
3 ¶ And Dā‑́vĭd smote Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr king of Zō‑́băh unto Hā‑́măth, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river E᷍u‑phrā‑́tēṡ.
4 And Dā‑́vĭd took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horse­men, and twenty thousand foot­men: Dā‑́vĭd also houghed all the chariot [horses], but reserved of them an hundred chariots.
5 And when the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns of Dă‑măs‑́cŭs came to help Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr king of Zō‑́băh, Dā‑́vĭd slew of the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns two and twenty thousand men.
6 Then Dā‑́vĭd put [garrisons] in Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ă–dă‑măs‑́cŭs; and the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns became Dā‑́vĭd’s servants, [and] brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved Dā‑́vĭd whither­soever he went.
7 And Dā‑́vĭd took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr, and brought them to Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
8 Likewise from Tĭb‑́hăth, and from Chŭn, cities of Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr, brought Dā‑́vĭd very much brass, where­with Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
9 ¶ Now when Tō‑́ū king of Hā‑́măth heard how Dā‑́vĭd had smitten all the host of Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr king of Zō‑́băh;
10 He sent Hă‑dôr‑́ăm his son to king Dā‑́vĭd, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr, and smitten him; (for Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr had war with Tō‑́ū;) and [with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
11 ¶ Them also king Dā‑́vĭd dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all [these] nations; from Ē‑́do̱m, and from Mō‑́ăb, and from the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n, and from the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ, and from Ăm‑́ă‑lĕk.
12 More­over Ăb‑́ĭ‑sha᷍i the son of Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh slew of the Ē‑́do̱m‑ītes in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
13 ¶ And he put garrisons in Ē‑́do̱m; and all the Ē‑́do̱m‑ītes became Dā‑́vĭd’s servants. Thus the LORD preserved Dā‑́vĭd whither­soever he went.
14 ¶ So Dā‑́vĭd reigned over all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
15 And Jō‑́ăb the son of Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh [was] over the host; and Jĕ‑hŏsh‑́ă‑phăt the son of Ă‑hī‑́lŭd, recorder.
16 And Zā‑́dŏk the son of Ă‑hī‑́tŭb, and Ă‑bĭm‑́ĕ‑lĕc͟h the son of Ă‑bī‑́ă‑thär, [were] the priests; and Shăv‑́shă was scribe;
17 And Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh the son of Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑dă [was] over the C͟hĕr‑́ĕ‑thītes and the Pĕl‑́ĕ‑thītes; and the sons of Dā‑́vĭd [were] chief about the king.
CHAPTER 19
Now it came to pass after this, that Nā‑́hăsh the king of the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n died, and his son reigned in his stead.
2 And Dā‑́vĭd said, I will shew kindness unto Hā‑́nŭn the son of Nā‑́hăsh, because his father shewed kindness to me. And Dā‑́vĭd sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of Dā‑́vĭd came into the land of the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n to Hā‑́nŭn, to comfort him.
3 But the princes of the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n said to Hā‑́nŭn, Thinkest thou that Dā‑́vĭd doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to over­throw, and to spy out the land?
4 Wherefore Hā‑́nŭn took Dā‑́vĭd’s servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away.
5 Then there went [certain], and told Dā‑́vĭd how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jĕr‑́ĭ‑c͟hō until your beards be grown, and [then] return.
6 ¶ And when the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n saw that they had made them­selves odious to Dā‑́vĭd, Hā‑́nŭn and the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horse­men out of Mĕs‑ŏ‑pŏ‑tā‑́mĭ‑ă, and out of Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ă–mā‑́ă‑c͟häh, and out of Zō‑́băh.
7 So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh and his people; who came and pitched before Mē‑́dĕ‑bă. And the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n gathered them­selves together from their cities, and came to battle.
8 And when Dā‑́vĭd heard [of it], he sent Jō‑́ăb, and all the host of the mighty men.
9 And the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come [were] by them­selves in the field.
10 Now when Jō‑́ăb saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and put [them] in array against the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns.
11 And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Ăb‑́ĭ‑sha᷍i his brother, and they set [them­selves] in array against the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n.
12 And he said, If the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.
13 Be of good courage, and let us behave our­selves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do [that which is] good in his sight.
14 So Jō‑́ăb and the people that [were] with him drew nigh before the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns unto the battle; and they fled before him.
15 And when the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n saw that the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns were fled, they likewise fled before Ăb‑́ĭ‑sha᷍i his brother, and entered into the city. Then Jō‑́ăb came to Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
16 ¶ And when the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns saw that they were put to the worse before Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns that [were] beyond the river: and Shō‑́phăc͟h the captain of the host of Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr [went] before them.
17 And it was told Dā‑́vĭd; and he gathered all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and passed over Jôr‑́dăn, and came upon them, and set [the battle] in array against them. So when Dā‑́vĭd had put the battle in array against the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns, they fought with him.
18 But the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns fled before Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl; and Dā‑́vĭd slew of the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns seven thousand [men which fought in] chariots, and forty thousand foot­men, and killed Shō‑́phăc͟h the captain of the host.
19 And when the servants of Hăd‑ă‑rē‑́zĕr saw that they were put to the worse before Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, they made peace with Dā‑́vĭd, and became his servants: neither would the Sy̆r‑́ĭ‑ăns help the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n any more.
CHAPTER 20
And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out [to battle], Jō‑́ăb led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n, and came and besieged Răb‑́băh. But Dā‑́vĭd tarried at Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm. And Jō‑́ăb smote Răb‑́băh, and destroyed it.
2 And Dā‑́vĭd took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and [there were] precious stones in it; and it was set upon Dā‑́vĭd’s head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city.
3 And he brought out the people that [were] in it, and cut [them] with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt Dā‑́vĭd with all the cities of the children of Ăm‑́mo̱n. And Dā‑́vĭd and all the people returned to Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
4 ¶ And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gē‑́zĕr with the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ; at which time Sĭb‑́bĕ‑c͟ha᷍i the Hūsh‑́ă‑thīte slew Sĭp‑́pā‑ī, [that was] of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.
5 And there was war again with the Phĭl‑́ĭs‑tīneṡ; and Ĕl‑hā‑́năn the son of Jā‑́ĭr slew Läh‑́mī the brother of Gō‑lī‑́ăth the Gĭt‑́tīte, whose spear staff [was] like a weaver’s beam.
6 And yet again there was war at Găth, where was a man of [great] stature, whose fingers and toes [were] four and twenty, six [on each hand], and six [on each foot]: and he also was the son of the giant.
7 But when he defied Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn the son of Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ă Dā‑́vĭd’s brother slew him.
8 These were born unto the giant in Găth; and they fell by the hand of Dā‑́vĭd, and by the hand of his servants.
CHAPTER 21
And Sā‑́tăn stood up against Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and provoked Dā‑́vĭd to number Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
2 And Dā‑́vĭd said to Jō‑́ăb and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl from Be᷍er–shē‑́bă even to Dăn; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know [it].
3 And Jō‑́ăb answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they [be]: but, my lord the king, [are] they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl?
4 Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Jō‑́ăb. Wherefore Jō‑́ăb departed, and went through­out all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and came to Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
5 ¶ And Jō‑́ăb gave the sum of the number of the people unto Dā‑́vĭd. And all [they of] Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Jûd‑́ăh [was] four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.
6 But Lē‑́vī and Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Jō‑́ăb.
7 And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
8 And Dā‑́vĭd said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
9 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Găd, Dā‑́vĭd’s seer, saying,
10 Go and tell Dā‑́vĭd, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three [things]: choose thee one of them, that I may do [it] unto thee.
11 So Găd came to Dā‑́vĭd, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee
12 Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies over­taketh [thee]; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying through­out all the coasts of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl. Now therefore advise thy­self what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
13 And Dā‑́vĭd said unto Găd, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great [are] his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 ¶ So the LORD sent pestilence upon Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl: and there fell of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl seventy thousand men.
15 And God sent an angel unto Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing­floor of Ôr‑́năn the Jĕb‑́ū‑ṡīte.
16 And Dā‑́vĭd lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm. Then Dā‑́vĭd and the elders [of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, who were] clothed in sack­cloth, fell upon their faces.
17 And Dā‑́vĭd said unto God, [Is it] not I [that] commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but [as for] these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
18 ¶ Then the angel of the LORD commanded Găd to say to Dā‑́vĭd, that Dā‑́vĭd should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshing­floor of Ôr‑́năn the Jĕb‑́ū‑ṡīte.
19 And Dā‑́vĭd went up at the saying of Găd, which he spake in the name of the LORD.
20 And Ôr‑́năn turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid them­selves. Now Ôr‑́năn was threshing wheat.
21 And as Dā‑́vĭd came to Ôr‑́năn, Ôr‑́năn looked and saw Dā‑́vĭd, and went out of the threshing­floor, and bowed him­self to Dā‑́vĭd with [his] face to the ground.
22 Then Dā‑́vĭd said to Ôr‑́năn, Grant me the place of [this] threshing­floor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
23 And Ôr‑́năn said unto Dā‑́vĭd, Take [it] to thee, and let my lord the king do [that which is] good in his eyes: lo, I give [thee] the oxen [also] for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.
24 And king Dā‑́vĭd said to Ôr‑́năn, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take [that] which [is] thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings with­out cost.
25 So Dā‑́vĭd gave to Ôr‑́năn for the place six hundred shē‑́kĕls of gold by weight.
26 And Dā‑́vĭd built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
27 And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.
28 ¶ At that time when Dā‑́vĭd saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing­floor of Ôr‑́năn the Jĕb‑́ū‑ṡīte, then he sacrificed there.
29 For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Mō‑́ṡĕṡ made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, [were] at that season in the high place at Gĭb‑́ĕ‑o̱n.
30 But Dā‑́vĭd could not go before it to inquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
CHAPTER 22
Then Dā‑́vĭd said, This [is] the house of the LORD God, and this [is] the altar of the burnt offering for Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
2 And Dā‑́vĭd commanded to gather together the strangers that [were] in the land of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
3 And Dā‑́vĭd prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance with­out weight;
4 Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zī‑dō‑́nĭ‑ăns and they of Tȳre brought much cedar wood to Dā‑́vĭd.
5 And Dā‑́vĭd said, Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n my son [is] young and tender, and the house [that is] to be builded for the LORD [must be] exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory through­out all countries: I will [therefore] now make preparation for it. So Dā‑́vĭd prepared abundantly before his death.
6 ¶ Then he called for Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
7 And Dā‑́vĭd said to Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n, and I will give peace and quietness unto Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl in his days.
10 He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I [will be] his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl for ever.
11 Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.
12 Only the LORD give thee wisdom and under­standing, and give thee charge concerning Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
13 Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Mō‑́ṡĕṡ with concerning Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.
14 Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron with­out weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.
15 More­over [there are] work­men with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.
16 Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, [there is] no number. Arise [therefore], and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.
17 ¶ Dā‑́vĭd also commanded all the princes of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl to help Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n his son, [saying],
18 [Is] not the LORD your God with you? and hath he [not] given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
CHAPTER 23
So when Dā‑́vĭd was old and full of days, he made Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n his son king over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
2 ¶ And he gathered together all the princes of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, with the priests and the Lē‑́vītes.
3 Now the Lē‑́vītes were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
4 Of which, twenty and four thousand [were] to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand [were] officers and judges:
5 More­over four thousand [were] porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, [said Dā‑́vĭd], to praise [there­with].
6 And Dā‑́vĭd divided them into courses among the sons of Lē‑́vī, [namely], Gĕr‑́shŏn, Kō‑́hăth, and Mĕ‑râr‑́ī.
7 ¶ Of the Gĕr‑́shŏn‑ītes [were], Lā‑́ă‑dăn, and Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī.
8 The sons of Lā‑́ă‑dăn; the chief [was] Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl, and Zē‑́thăm, and Jō‑́ĕl, three.
9 The sons of Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī; Shĕ‑lō‑́mĭth, and Hāz‑́ĭ‑ĕl, and Hâ‑́răn, three. These [were] the chief of the fathers of Lā‑́ă‑dăn.
10 And the sons of Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī [were], Jā‑́hăth, Zī‑́nă, and Jē‑́ŭsh, and Bĕ‑rī‑́ăh. These four [were] the sons of Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī.
11 And Jā‑́hăth was the chief, and Zī‑́zăh the second: but Jē‑́ŭsh and Bĕ‑rī‑́ăh had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to [their] father’s house.
12 ¶ The sons of Kō‑́hăth; Ăm‑́răm, Ĭz‑́här, Hē‑́brŏn, and Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl, four.
13 The sons of Ăm‑́răm; A᷍a‑́ro̱n and Mō‑́ṡĕṡ: and A᷍a‑́ro̱n was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
14 Now [concerning] Mō‑́ṡĕṡ the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Lē‑́vī.
15 The sons of Mō‑́ṡĕṡ [were], Gĕr‑́shŏm, and Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́zĕr.
16 Of the sons of Gĕr‑́shŏm, Shĕ‑bū‑́ĕl [was] the chief.
17 And the sons of Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́zĕr [were], Rē‑hă‑bī‑́ăh the chief. And Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́zĕr had none other sons; but the sons of Rē‑hă‑bī‑́ăh were very many.
18 Of the sons of Ĭz‑́här; Shĕ‑lō‑́mĭth the chief.
19 Of the sons of Hē‑́brŏn; Jĕ‑rī‑́ăh the first, Ăm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh the second, Jă‑hā‑́zĭ‑ĕl the third, and Jĕ‑kăm‑́ĕ‑ăm the fourth.
20 Of the sons of Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl; Mī‑́c͟hăh the first, and Jĕ‑sī‑́ăh the second.
21 ¶ The sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī; Mäh‑́lī, and Mū‑́shī. The sons of Mäh‑́lī; Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär, and Kĭsh.
22 And Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kĭsh took them.
23 The sons of Mū‑́shī; Mäh‑́lī, and Ē‑́dĕr, and Jĕr‑́ĕ‑mōth, three.
24 ¶ These [were] the sons of Lē‑́vī after the house of their fathers; [even] the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.
25 For Dā‑́vĭd said, The LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm for ever:
26 And also unto the Lē‑́vītes; they shall no [more] carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
27 For by the last words of Dā‑́vĭd the Lē‑́vītes [were] numbered from twenty years old and above:
28 Because their office [was] to wait on the sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29 Both for the shew­bread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for [that which is baked in] the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
30 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;
31 And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:
32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy [place], and the charge of the sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
CHAPTER 24
Now [these are] the divisions of the sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n. The sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n; Nā‑́dăb, and Ă‑bī‑́hū, Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär, and Ĭth‑́ă‑mär.
2 But Nā‑́dăb and Ă‑bī‑́hū died before their father, and had no children: therefore Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär and Ĭth‑́ă‑mär executed the priest’s office.
3 And Dā‑́vĭd distributed them, both Zā‑́dŏk of the sons of Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär, and Ă‑hĭm‑́ĕ‑lĕc͟h of the sons of Ĭth‑́ă‑mär, according to their offices in their service.
4 And there were more chief men found of the sons of Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär than of the sons of Ĭth‑́ă‑mär; and [thus] were they divided. Among the sons of Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär [there were] sixteen chief men of the house of [their] fathers, and eight among the sons of Ĭth‑́ă‑mär according to the house of their fathers.
5 Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors [of the house] of God, were of the sons of Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär, and of the sons of Ĭth‑́ă‑mär.
6 And Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh the son of Nĕth‑́ă‑ne᷍el the scribe, [one] of the Lē‑́vītes, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zā‑́dŏk the priest, and Ă‑hĭm‑́ĕ‑lĕc͟h the son of Ă‑bī‑́ă‑thär, and [before] the chief of the fathers of the priests and Lē‑́vītes: one principal house­hold being taken for Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär, and [one] taken for Ĭth‑́ă‑mär.
7 Now the first lot came forth to Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑rĭb, the second to Jĕ‑da᷍i‑́ăh,
8 The third to Hâr‑́ĭm, the fourth to Sē‑ôr‑́ĭm,
9 The fifth to Măl‑chī‑́jăh, the sixth to Mī‑́jă‑mĭn,
10 The seventh to Hăk‑́kŏz, the eighth to Ā‑bī‑́jăh,
11 The ninth to Jĕsh‑́ū‑ă, the tenth to Shĕc‑ă‑nī‑́ăh,
12 The eleventh to Ē‑lī‑ăsh‑́ĭb, the twelfth to Jā‑́kĭm,
13 The thirteenth to Hŭp‑́păh, the fourteenth to Jĕ‑shĕb‑́ĕ‑ăb,
14 The fifteenth to Bĭl‑́găh, the sixteenth to Ĭm‑́mĕr,
15 The seventeenth to Hē‑́zĭr, the eighteenth to Ăph‑́sēṡ,
16 The nineteenth to Pĕth‑ă‑hī‑́ăh, the twentieth to Jĕ‑hĕz‑́ĕ‑kĕl,
17 The one and twentieth to Jā‑́c͟hĭn, the two and twentieth to Găm‑́ŭl,
18 The three and twentieth to Dĕl‑a᷍i‑́ăh, the four and twentieth to Mā‑ă‑zī‑́ăh.
19 These [were] the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under A᷍a‑́ro̱n their father, as the LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl had commanded him.
20 ¶ And the rest of the sons of Lē‑́vī [were these]: Of the sons of Ăm‑́răm; Shû‑́bā‑ĕl: of the sons of Shû‑́bā‑ĕl; Jĕh‑de᷍i‑́ăh.
21 Concerning Rē‑hă‑bī‑́ăh: of the sons of Rē‑hă‑bī‑́ăh, the first [was] Ĭs‑shī‑́ăh.

23 And the sons [of Hē‑́brŏn]; Jĕ‑rī‑́ăh [the first], Ăm‑ă‑rī‑́ăh the second, Jă‑hā‑́zĭ‑ĕl the third, Jĕ‑kăm‑́ĕ‑ăm the fourth.
24 [Of] the sons of Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl; Mī‑́c͟hăh: of the sons of Mī‑́c͟hăh; Shā‑́mĭr.
25 The brother of Mī‑́c͟hăh [was] Ĭs‑shī‑́ăh: of the sons of Ĭs‑shī‑́ăh; Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh.
26 The sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī [were] Mäh‑́lī and Mū‑́shī: the sons of Jā‑ă‑zī‑́ăh; Bē‑́nō.
27 ¶ The sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī by Jā‑ă‑zī‑́ăh; Bē‑́nō, and Shō‑́hăm, and Zăc‑́cu̇r, and Ĭb‑́rī.
28 Of Mäh‑́lī [came] Ĕl‑ē‑ā‑́zär, who had no sons.
29 Concerning Kĭsh: the son of Kĭsh [was] Jĕ‑räh‑́me᷍el.
30 The sons also of Mū‑́shī; Mäh‑́lī, and Ē‑́dĕr, and Jĕr‑́ĭ‑mōth. These [were] the sons of the Lē‑́vītes after the house of their fathers.
31 These likewise cast lots over against their brethren the sons of A᷍a‑́ro̱n in the presence of Dā‑́vĭd the king, and Zā‑́dŏk, and Ă‑hĭm‑́ĕ‑lĕc͟h, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Lē‑́vītes, even the principal fathers over against their younger brethren.
CHAPTER 25
More­over Dā‑́vĭd and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Ā‑́săph, and of Hē‑́măn, and of Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the work­men according to their service was:
2 Of the sons of Ā‑́săph; Zăc‑́cu̇r, and Jō‑́ṡĕph, and Nĕth‑ă‑nī‑́ăh, and Ăs‑ă‑rē‑́lăh, the sons of Ā‑́săph under the hands of Ā‑́săph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.
3 Of Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn: the sons of Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn; Gĕd‑ă‑lī‑́ăh, and Zē‑́rī, and Jĕsh‑a᷍i‑́ăh, Hăsh‑ă‑bī‑́ăh, and Măt‑tĭ‑thī‑́ăh, six, under the hands of their father Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.
4 Of Hē‑́măn: the sons of Hē‑́măn; Bŭk‑kī‑́ăh, Măt‑tă‑nī‑́ăh, Ŭz‑́zĭ‑ĕl, Shĕ‑bū‑́ĕl, and Jĕr‑́ĭ‑mōth, Hăn‑ă‑nī‑́ăh, Hă‑nā‑́nī, Ē‑lī‑́ă‑thăh, Gĭd‑dăl‑́tī, and Rō‑măm‑́tī–ēz‑́ĕr, Jŏsh‑bĕ‑kă‑́shăh, Măl‑lō‑́thī, Hō‑́thĭr, [and] Mă‑hā‑́zĭ‑ōth:
5 All these [were] the sons of Hē‑́măn the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Hē‑́măn fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 All these [were] under the hands of their father for song [in] the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Ā‑́săph, Jĕ‑dū‑́thŭn, and Hē‑́măn.
7 So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, [even] all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.
8 ¶ And they cast lots, ward against [ward], as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.
9 Now the first lot came forth for Ā‑́săph to Jō‑́ṡĕph: the second to Gĕd‑ă‑lī‑́ăh, who with his brethren and sons [were] twelve:
10 The third to Zăc‑́cu̇r, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
11 The fourth to Ĭz‑́rī, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
12 The fifth to Nĕth‑ă‑nī‑́ăh, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
13 The sixth to Bŭk‑kī‑́ăh, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
14 The seventh to Jĕsh‑ă‑rē‑́lăh, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
15 The eighth to Jĕsh‑a᷍i‑́ăh, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
16 The ninth to Măt‑tă‑nī‑́ăh, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
17 The tenth to Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:
18 The eleventh to Ăz‑́ă‑re᷍el, [he], his sons, and his brethren, [were] twelve:

CHAPTER 26
Concerning the divisions of the porters: Of the Kôr‑́hītes [was] Mĕ‑shĕl‑ĕ‑mī‑́ăh the son of Kôr‑́ē, of the sons of Ā‑́săph.
2 And the sons of Mĕ‑shĕl‑ĕ‑mī‑́ăh [were], Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh the first­born, Jĕd‑ĭ‑ā‑́ĕl the second, Zĕb‑ă‑dī‑́ăh the third, Jăth‑́nĭ‑ĕl the fourth,
3 Ē‑́lăm the fifth, Jē‑hō‑hā‑́năn the sixth, Ĕl‑ĭ‑ō‑ē‑́na᷍i the seventh.
4 More­over the sons of Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m [were], Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh the first­born, Jĕ‑hō‑́ză‑băd the second, Jō‑́äh the third, and Sā‑́cär the fourth, and Nĕth‑́ă‑ne᷍el the fifth,
5 Ăm‑́mĭ‑ĕl the sixth, Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här the seventh, Pē‑ŭl‑́tha᷍i the eighth: for God blessed him.
6 Also unto Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh his son were sons born, that ruled through­out the house of their father: for they [were] mighty men of valour.
7 The sons of Shĕm‑a᷍i‑́ăh; Ŏth‑́nī, and Rĕph‑́ā‑ĕl, and Ō‑́bĕd, Ĕl‑zā‑́băd, whose brethren [were] strong men, Ĕ‑lī‑́hū, and Sĕm‑ă‑c͟hī‑́ăh.
8 All these of the sons of Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, [were] threescore and two of Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m.
9 And Mĕ‑shĕl‑ĕ‑mī‑́ăh had sons and brethren, strong men, eighteen.
10 Also Hō‑́săh, of the children of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī, had sons; Sĭm‑́rī the chief, (for [though] he was not the first­born, yet his father made him the chief;)
11 Hĭl‑kī‑́ăh the second, Tĕb‑ă‑lī‑́ăh the third, Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh the fourth: all the sons and brethren of Hō‑́săh [were] thirteen.
12 Among these [were] the divisions of the porters, [even] among the chief men, [having] wards one against another, to minister in the house of the LORD.
13 ¶ And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate.
14 And the lot east­ward fell to Shĕl‑ē‑mī‑́ăh. Then for Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh his son, a wise counseller, they cast lots; and his lot came out north­ward.
15 To Ō‑́bĕd–ē‑́do̱m south­ward; and to his sons the house of Ă‑sŭp‑́pĭm.
16 To Shŭp‑́pĭm and Hō‑́săh [the lot came forth] west­ward, with the gate Shăl‑́lĕ‑c͟hĕth, by the cause­way of the going up, ward against ward.
17 Eastward [were] six Lē‑́vītes, north­ward four a day, south­ward four a day, and toward Ă‑sŭp‑́pĭm two [and] two.
18 At Pär‑́bär west­ward, four at the cause­way, [and] two at Pär‑́bär.
19 These [are] the divisions of the porters among the sons of Kôr‑́ē, and among the sons of Mĕ‑râr‑́ī.
20 ¶ And of the Lē‑́vītes, Ă‑hī‑́jăh [was] over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.
21 [As concerning] the sons of Lā‑́ă‑dăn; the sons of the Gĕr‑́shŏn‑īte Lā‑́ă‑dăn, chief fathers, [even] of Lā‑́ă‑dăn the Gĕr‑́shŏn‑īte, [were] Jĕ‑hī‑ē‑́lī.
22 The sons of Jĕ‑hī‑ē‑́lī; Zē‑́thăm, and Jō‑́ĕl his brother, [which were] over the treasures of the house of the LORD.
23 Of the Ăm‑́răm‑ītes, [and] the Ĭz‑här‑́ītes, the Hē‑́brŏn‑ītes, [and] the Ŭz‑zĭ‑ē‑́lītes:
24 And Shĕ‑bū‑́ĕl the son of Gĕr‑́shŏm, the son of Mō‑́ṡĕṡ, [was] ruler of the treasures.
25 And his brethren by Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́zĕr; Rē‑hă‑bī‑́ăh his son, and Jĕsh‑a᷍i‑́ăh his son, and Jôr‑́ăm his son, and Zĭch‑́rī his son, and Shĕ‑lō‑́mĭth his son.
26 Which Shĕ‑lō‑́mĭth and his brethren [were] over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which Dā‑́vĭd the king, and the chief fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated.
27 Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the LORD.
28 And all that Săm‑́ū‑ĕl the seer, and Sa᷍ul the son of Kĭsh, and Ăb‑́nĕr the son of Nĕr, and Jō‑́ăb the son of Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh, had dedicated; [and] who­soever had dedicated [any thing, it was] under the hand of Shĕ‑lō‑́mĭth, and of his brethren.
29 ¶ Of the Ĭz‑här‑́ītes, C͟hĕn‑ă‑nī‑́ăh and his sons [were] for the out­ward business over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, for officers and judges.
30 [And] of the Hē‑́brŏn‑ītes, Hăsh‑ă‑bī‑́ăh and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, [were] officers among them of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl on this side Jôr‑́dăn west­ward in all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king.
31 Among the Hē‑́brŏn‑ītes [was] Jĕ‑rī‑́jăh the chief, [even] among the Hē‑́brŏn‑ītes, according to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of Dā‑́vĭd they were sought for, and there were found among them mighty men of valour at Jā‑́zĕr of Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd.
32 And his brethren, men of valour, [were] two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king Dā‑́vĭd made rulers over the Re᷍u‑́bĕn‑ītes, the Găd‑́ītes, and the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
CHAPTER 27
Now the children of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl after their number, [to wit], the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month through­out all the months of the year, of every course [were] twenty and four thousand.
2 Over the first course for the first month [was] Jă‑shŏb‑́ĕ‑ăm the son of Zăb‑́dĭ‑ĕl: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
3 Of the children of Pē‑́rĕz [was] the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.
4 And over the course of the second month [was] Dō‑́da᷍i an Ă‑hō‑́hīte, and of his course [was] Mĭk‑́lōth also the ruler: in his course likewise [were] twenty and four thousand.
5 The third captain of the host for the third month [was] Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh the son of Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑dă, a chief priest: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
6 This [is that] Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh, [who was] mighty [among] the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course [was] Ăm‑mī‑́ză‑băd his son.
7 The fourth [captain] for the fourth month [was] Ăs‑́ă‑hĕl the brother of Jō‑́ăb, and Zĕb‑ă‑dī‑́ăh his son after him: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
8 The fifth captain for the fifth month [was] Shăm‑́hŭth the Ĭz‑́ră‑hīte: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
9 The sixth [captain] for the sixth month [was] Ī‑́ră the son of Ĭk‑́kĕsh the Tĕ‑kō‑́īte: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
10 The seventh [captain] for the seventh month [was] Hē‑́lĕz the Pē‑́lō‑nīte, of the children of Ē‑́phră‑ĭm: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
11 The eighth [captain] for the eighth month [was] Sĭb‑́bĕ‑ca᷍i the Hūsh‑́ă‑thīte, of the Zär‑́hītes: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
12 The ninth [captain] for the ninth month [was] Ā‑bī‑ē‑́zĕr the Ăn‑ĕ‑tō‑́thīte, of the Bĕn‑́jă‑mītes: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
13 The tenth [captain] for the tenth month [was] Mā‑́hă‑ra᷍i the Nĕ‑tŏph‑́ă‑thīte, of the Zär‑́hītes: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
14 The eleventh [captain] for the eleventh month [was] Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh the Pī‑rā‑́thŏn‑īte, of the children of Ē‑́phră‑ĭm: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
15 The twelfth [captain] for the twelfth month [was] Hĕl‑́da᷍i the Nĕ‑tŏph‑́ă‑thīte, of Ŏth‑́nĭ‑ĕl: and in his course [were] twenty and four thousand.
16 ¶ Furthermore over the tribes of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl: the ruler of the Re᷍u‑́bĕn‑ītes [was] Ĕl‑ĭ‑ē‑́zĕr the son of Zĭch‑́rī: of the Sĭm‑́ē‑o̱n‑ītes, Shĕph‑ă‑tī‑́ăh the son of Mā‑́ă‑c͟häh:
17 Of the Lē‑́vītes, Hăsh‑ă‑bī‑́ăh the son of Kĕ‑mū‑́ĕl: of the A᷍a‑́ro̱n‑ītes, Zā‑́dŏk:
18 Of Jûd‑́ăh, Ĕ‑lī‑́hū, [one] of the brethren of Dā‑́vĭd: of Ĭs‑́să‑c͟här, Ŏm‑́rī the son of Mī‑́c͟hā‑ĕl:
19 Of Zĕ‑bū‑́lŭn, Ĭsh‑ma᷍i‑́ăh the son of Ō‑bă‑dī‑́ăh: of Năph‑́tă‑lī, Jĕr‑́ĭ‑mōth the son of Ăz‑́rĭ‑ĕl:
20 Of the children of Ē‑́phră‑ĭm, Hō‑shē‑́ă the son of Ăz‑ă‑zī‑́ăh: of the half tribe of Mă‑năs‑́sēh, Jō‑́ĕl the son of Pĕ‑da᷍i‑́ăh:
21 Of the half [tribe] of Mă‑năs‑́sēh in Gĭl‑́ĕ‑ăd, Ĭd‑́dō the son of Zĕc͟h‑ă‑rī‑́ăh: of Bĕn‑́jă‑mĭn, Jā‑ăs‑́ĭ‑ĕl the son of Ăb‑́nĕr:
22 Of Dăn, Ăz‑́ă‑re᷍el the son of Jĕ‑rō‑́hăm. These [were] the princes of the tribes of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
23 ¶ But Dā‑́vĭd took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl like to the stars of the heavens.
24 Jō‑́ăb the son of Zĕr‑ū‑ī‑́ăh began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king Dā‑́vĭd.
25 ¶ And over the king’s treasures [was] Ăz‑mā‑́vĕth the son of Ăd‑́ĭ‑ĕl: and over the store­houses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, [was] Jĕ‑hŏn‑́ă‑thăn the son of Ŭz‑zī‑́ăh:
26 And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground [was] Ĕz‑́rī the son of C͟hē‑́lŭb:
27 And over the vineyards [was] Shĭm‑́ĕ‑ī the Rā‑́măth‑īte: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars [was] Zăb‑́dī the Shĭph‑́mīte:
28 And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that [were] in the low plains [was] Bā‑́ăl–hā‑́năn the Gĕ‑dē‑́rīte: and over the cellars of oil [was] Jō‑́ăsh:
29 And over the herds that fed in Shâr‑́o̱n [was] Shĭt‑rā‑́ī the Shâr‑́o̱n‑īte: and over the herds [that were] in the valleys [was] Shā‑́phăt the son of Ăd‑lā‑́ī:
30 Over the camels also [was] Ŏ‑́bĭl the Ĭsh‑́mā‑ĕ‑līte: and over the asses [was] Jĕh‑de᷍i‑́ăh the Mĕ‑rō‑́nō‑thīte:
31 And over the flocks [was] Jā‑́zĭz the Hă‑gē‑́rīte. All these [were] the rulers of the substance which [was] king Dā‑́vĭd’s.
32 Also Jŏn‑́ă‑thăn Dā‑́vĭd’s uncle was a counseller, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl the son of Hăc͟h‑mō‑́nī [was] with the king’s sons:
33 And Ă‑hĭth‑́ŏ‑phĕl [was] the king’s counseller: and Hū‑́sha᷍i the Är‑́c͟hīte [was] the king’s companion:
34 And after Ă‑hĭth‑́ŏ‑phĕl [was] Jĕ‑ho᷍i‑́ă‑dă the son of Bĕ‑na᷍i‑́ăh, and Ă‑bī‑́ă‑thär: and the general of the king’s army [was] Jō‑́ăb.
CHAPTER 28
And Dā‑́vĭd assembled all the princes of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
2 Then Dā‑́vĭd the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: [As for me], I [had] in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the foot­stool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
3 But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou [hast been] a man of war, and hast shed blood.
4 Howbeit the LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl for ever: for he hath chosen Jûd‑́ăh [to be] the ruler; and of the house of Jûd‑́ăh, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make [me] king over all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl:
5 And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
6 And he said unto me, Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him [to be] my son, and I will be his father.
7 More­over I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.
8 Now therefore in the sight of all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave [it] for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
9 ¶ And thou, Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and under­standeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
10 Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do [it].
11 ¶ Then Dā‑́vĭd gave to Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,
12 And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:
13 Also for the courses of the priests and the Lē‑́vītes, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.
14 [He gave] of gold by weight for [things] of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; [silver also] for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service:
15 Even the weight for the candle­sticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every candle­stick, and for the lamps thereof: and for the candle­sticks of silver by weight, [both] for the candle­stick, and [also] for the lamps thereof, according to the use of every candle­stick.
16 And by weight [he gave] gold for the tables of shew­bread, for every table; and [likewise] silver for the tables of silver:
17 Also pure gold for the flesh­hooks, and the bowls, and the cups: and for the golden basons [he gave gold] by weight for every bason; and [likewise silver] by weight for every bason of silver:
18 And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the chĕr‑́ū‑bĭms, that spread out [their wings], and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
19 All [this, said Dā‑́vĭd], the LORD made me under­stand in writing by [his] hand upon me, [even] all the works of this pattern.
20 And Dā‑́vĭd said to Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do [it]: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, [even] my God, [will be] with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
21 And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Lē‑́vītes, [even they shall be with thee] for all the service of the house of God: and [there shall be] with thee for all manner of work­manship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people [will be] wholly at thy commandment.
CHAPTER 29
Furthermore Dā‑́vĭd the king said unto all the congregation, Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n my son, whom alone God hath chosen, [is yet] young and tender, and the work [is] great: for the palace [is] not for man, but for the LORD God.
2 Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for [things to be made] of gold, and the silver for [things] of silver, and the brass for [things] of brass, the iron for [things] of iron, and wood for [things] of wood; onyx stones, and [stones] to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
3 More­over, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, [which] I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
4 [Even] three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ō‑́phĭr, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to over­lay the walls of the houses [withal]:
5 The gold for [things] of gold, and the silver for [things] of silver, and for all manner of work [to be made] by the hands of artificers. And who [then] is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?
6 ¶ Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,
7 And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
8 And they with whom [precious] stones were found gave [them] to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jĕ‑hī‑́ĕl the Gĕr‑́shŏn‑īte.
9 Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and Dā‑́vĭd the king also rejoiced with great joy.
10 ¶ Wherefore Dā‑́vĭd blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and Dā‑́vĭd said, Blessed [be] thou, LORD God of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl our father, for ever and ever.
11 Thine, O LORD, [is] the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all [that is] in the heaven and in the earth [is thine]; thine [is] the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
12 Both riches and honour [come] of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand [is] power and might; and in thine hand [it is] to make great, and to give strength unto all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
14 But who [am] I, and what [is] my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things [come] of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
15 For we [are] strangers before thee, and sojourners, as [were] all our fathers: our days on the earth [are] as a shadow, and [there is] none abiding.
16 O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name [cometh] of thine hand, and [is] all thine own.
17 I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
18 O LORD God of Ā‑́bră‑hăm, Ī‑́ṡa̅a̅c, and of Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:
19 And give unto Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all [these things], and to build the palace, [for] the which I have made provision.
20 ¶ And Dā‑́vĭd said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king.
21 And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day, [even] a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, [and] a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl:
22 And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n the son of Dā‑́vĭd king the second time, and anointed [him] unto the LORD [to be] the chief governor, and Zā‑́dŏk [to be] priest.
23 Then Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of Dā‑́vĭd his father, and prospered; and all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl obeyed him.
24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king Dā‑́vĭd, submitted them­selves unto Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n the king.
25 And the LORD magnified Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n exceedingly in the sight of all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and bestowed upon him [such] royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
26 ¶ Thus Dā‑́vĭd the son of Jĕs‑́sĕ reigned over all Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl.
27 And the time that he reigned over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl [was] forty years; seven years reigned he in Hē‑́brŏn, and thirty and three [years] reigned he in Jĕ‑rû‑́să‑lĕm.
28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Sŏl‑́ŏ‑mo̱n his son reigned in his stead.
29 Now the acts of Dā‑́vĭd the king, first and last, behold, they [are] written in the book of Săm‑́ū‑ĕl the seer, and in the book of Nā‑́thăn the prophet, and in the book of Găd the seer,
30 With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Ĭṡ‑́rā‑ĕl, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
